I feel we either go OL or OLB at #9. I'd much rather take OLB, Jarvis Jones preferably, but we do have a glaring need on OL. My question is this. If we get the #13 pick from TB, do we go after Tyler Eifert? Best TE in the draft and a HUGE need for us right now. I have a feeling the guy is going to be the next Tony Gonzalez
HELL NO. Would not consider any tight end 99.99% of the time and Eifert is not the .01%. Especially considering this teams need filler
Not saying I would take him. Just wanted everyone's thoughts on it. It will be an option, I know that much. I think he will be great, I just think we can get a quality TE later in the draft. I'm asking because I keep hearing analysts talk about that exact pick
Why not? it's not 1980 anymore! The game has evolved and TEs are killing it right now. I'm thinking OLB at 9 and OG/TE/WR at 13. If we get 13 of course. It must also be kept in consideration that this is one KILLER draft for TEs... in every round almost.
Really depends on how everything falls. If somehow Cooper and Warmack are gone then MAYBE but that's a big maybe. Eifert is a great TE but I think getting a guy like Ertz at 39 is just as good, if not better.
That's true. We could go OL with #9 and OLB with #13. Then go after Ertz or even Travis Kelce in the later rounds . Personally, I LOVE Kelce's game
But will Ertz be there at #39 ? Also doesn't Kelce come with character concerns? Not saying it's a reason not to draft him, just wondering.
You make sound points BUT. The top tight ends also benefit from the top QBs which we dont have. Also, tight ends tend to be a fragile position based on the body of work. I am all for taking a tight end later, even late round one if we made a pick there, but not at nine
Ansah at 9, Cooper at 13, and Ertz at 39 would be exceptional. A bit of a pipe dream but not impossible.
Depends on where Eifert goes. So essentially theres no telling if he will be or not, but I think the Jets certainly feel that way.
Not quite sure, but the guy can flat out play. Character problems can be bottled up or fixed most of the time.
My wish list: BPA @9 BPA @13 BPA @39 13 seems pretty high for a TE tho particularly in a very deep draft for TEs.
Upside wise, I like him more than Jones, but as you can see from our 7 round mock its not always about "potential" especially with high 1st rounders. Sometimes you have to take the sure thing over the developmental prospect. I just threw him out there for the sake of it, not trying to imply thats my guy. Although, come April 25th if they take Ansah over Jones I wouldn't be that upset.
Assuming we end up w/ #13, the way the value looks to be, I think trenches, WR or safety will be the route we go. Unless Jordan is there at #9, all of the pass rushers offer too much risk.Jones doesn't fit in the Jets scheme..get over it. I like Eifert, but not till pick 20 or so. I like Escobar in round 2 alot better. These are the players that I would have on my short list for picks 9 & 13.No particular order. Star Lotuleilei Chance Warmack Ken Vaccaro Jonathan Cooper Corradelle Patterson Tavon Austin
1st round is for high impact positions unless the guy you are taking is so good that he can make a big impact from a position of less value. The 2nd to 4th rounds are where the Jets could find a TE if they went looking. It's better to reach for somebody like Travis Kelce at 39 than to take any TE in this draft at 13.
Can you imagine the outcry if Revis' "replacement" is a guard? I'd love to have Cooper but he'd probably get a lot of boos and the Jets would get a ton of flack... I'm liking Vaccaro at 13.
If Austin is gone I would love Lotulelei and Jordan/Mingo and if Austin is there I would love Mingo/Jordan and Austin. I think by trading Revis and getting two first round picks could be huge. Would love a dominant defensive front 7. If they came out of the draft with any of the above combinations and then g/t, safety, cb, rb. As much as I'd hate to lose Revis, it could be huge for depth to pick up an extra first rounder and then more picks. Now on those picks you gotta hope that they do not miss.
