Teammates We are two weeks away to the deadline and thought it would be good to gather all our comments/needs in one thread. As always, mod please help me if already existing or it should be incorporated elsewhere. As of now, it is fair to say we are still in the fight for success and holding on to the elusive dream of a potential play off spot or at least a strong finish to the end. The dreadful days of tanking are mercifully behind us. What should JD do at this juncture for the long term betterment of the team? Who should we trade for value or picks and also who should we consider bringing in to give this team a last minute boost in the area of need? Guys like Mims and Hall immediately come to mind, but I fear that sometimes we can go from depth to panic in one game. None the less if the right offer comes. Another area is strength at the DL On the other side I wouldn't mind beefing up the Safety and LB position if there is some jewel out there Crazy thoughts. Is LB Roquan Smith an option, or even beefing up the OT position with Isaiah Wynn from the Pats? Thoughts?
The Jets and Pats are not going to make a trade, especially during the season. I may be mistaken, but don't think the Jets would get anywhere near value for either Hall or Mims, and since they're still on their cheap rookie contracts, neither should be traded, especially because of depth issues/insurance in case of injury. I can't see JD giving up picks to trade for anyone. If I traded anyone, it would be Martin. We have plenty of depth at DE, and he hasn't shown much at all. If Mims is miserable and pushing for a trade and they get a good offer, then I guess I'd reluctantly trade him.
Knowing JD I think he is going to try to unload at least one player. I’m not sure which one. I know he won’t take what he considers a bad deal. So if a deal is worked out I’m confident it will be in the Jets favor. A low 3rd or even a high 4th may be enough ammunition for another trade up in 2023 perhaps giving the Jets an extra second round pick which could do wonders since this coming offseason may be the final step in the rebuilding process.
And if they do, it will be as sellers, not buyers. I don't think Joe Douglas is going to make any big moves or trades until next year. If the Jets keep showing their potential this season, I think he will begin making bigger moves so this team can make a deep playoff run and a potential Super Bowl run in 2023 and beyond. Exciting times to be a Jets fan!
I'd be surprised if this is correct. No disrespect to you, just that I think some little things will happen.
Yeah I realized after I posted that, that the jets would probably make some bottom of the roster moves like everyone does. I was referring to more significant moves; should’ve been more specific.
I was actually hoping they would activate Mims last week, against the Packers, & try to get him involved, to kinda display him to the Packers... in hopes he'd play well in front of a team that needs a WR. But, I still like him available, in case someone gets injured. I wouldn't be surprised if one DLman gets moved, as Curry's been activated, while Anae & a few others are on the PS.
I mentioned in the thread I probably put in the wrong forum that I would love for the Jets to get Derrick Brown from the Panthers. I don’t think a 2023 1st would be enough to get him and idk if Becton has any trade value but I would love to make a move like that. I’d go as high as: 2023 and 2024 1st for Derrick Brown and 2024 2nd
Gotcha ;-) Thing is... those little ones... i mean, look at what has happened since AVT went to T and Herbig stepped in!! The Hardee pickup is looking amazing right now as he influencing young guys and that unit is humming
Spot on. I do remember many here arguing the value of bringing in Hardee, and many others calling Herbig a bottom of the scrap heap, or Brown, labeled an overpaid 37 year old, and those are just a few of JD moves under the media and fan radar that are paying major dividends.
Depends on how much LeFleur hates Mims. No secret the CS doesn't have any faith in Mims as his first impressions wasn't a good one. The public praise of Mims is just PR. The only way Mims gets activated is if Davis or another WR gets injured. Mims is the WR of last resort. Not to worry as his rookie contract will be up at some point and Mims will break speed records getting out.
Thing is, about Mims, he did show signs in his first season. Since, he's never really gotten an opportunity, after his health stuff last season. So, at least to me, he's still an unknown, other than he's tall, fast, & seems like a good kid. I'd hate to see him become a solid WR elsewhere, but elsewhere does seem to be where its headed.
The question is who are you going to deactivate to activate Mims? Jeff Smith, Berrios, G.WIlson, Corey Davis, Elijah Moore?
I'm curious. Is the CS that sold on Jeff smith at this point? In fairness I have not paid enough attention to his contributions to say one way or another using the casual eye test. Pretty much I watch every offensive snap with a close eye for either Garret, Davis, Moore when in the picture and Hall/MC.
