We bet the farm and actually get Sanchez .. only to have him set behind KC for a few games or longer. Or We miss out on Sanchez and Tanny gets scared so he moves up in the draft only to take Freeman.
Option 'A' because of the PSL's!!! Woody is desperate right now and needs a face to plaster all over the stadium.
well posted--Give Clemens or Ratty a chance! Drafting a QB high now would just put us in a 2-3 year rebuilding program!
Bingo, Woody is desperate to sell PSL's but I think getting Sanchez might just do that. Option 2 is just insane.
the fact that you want Sanchez to start right away makes this thread suck. not one QB in this draft can start right away. Its for the next 10 years so no one can complain about who the starter and leader is of the team. Any of the top 3 need to sit for 16-20 games before its their turn.
I'm ok with drafting Sanchez. I'd offer almost whatever it takes to get him. I'm sold on his ability and think he will be a very good QB. We need a franchise QB, we missed out on Cutler, and now we have a chance to redeem ourselves and have a QB for a decade.
The only nightmare scenario pick I have is Vontae Davis. So long as we don't take Vontae Davis I'll be ok with whatever they do.
Taking Percy Harvin at #17 would be insane, especially given all his off-the-field issues. Francesa loves him, which should make any knowledegable football fan or FAN listener extremely wary. It would be like drafting Santana Moss all over again, only the guy is a head-case and is either an idiot or a pot fiend -- Even Tony Mandarich passed his drug test at the Scouting Combine!
can you name any HOF QBs that had to sit for that many games? I can name a lot that started within 16 games. Here are the 23 HOF QBs in the modern era, can you show one that sat for one or two years? Montana played the least his rookie season, but he did play some. Joe Montana 1979-1994 Warren Moon 1984-2000 Joe Namath 1965-1977 Bart Starr 1956-1971 Roger Staubach 1969-1979 Fran Tarkenton 1961-1978 Y.A. Tittle 1948-1964 Johnny Unitas 1956-1973 Norm Van Brocklin 1949-1960 Bob Waterfield 1945-1952 Steve Young 1985-1999 Troy Aikman 1989-2000 George Blanda (Also PK) 1949-1958, 1960-1975 Terry Bradshaw 1970-1983 Len Dawson 1957-1975 John Elway 1983-1998 Dan Fouts 1973-1987 Otto Graham 1946-1955 Bob Griese 1967-1980 Sonny Jurgensen 1957-1974 Jim Kelly 1986-1996 Bobby Layne 1948-1962 Dan Marino 1983-1999 The idea of a QB needing time on the bench is a thing that has sprang up in the last decade. A good QB is a good QB. A player will learn more on the field than on the bench.
^ 16 starts in college and you want him in the fire against the teams the Jets have to play next year? Not a good move. Nice job picking pre-super bowl era QBs... otto graham really supports your claim. the common era guys were seniors with plenty of experience coming out of college. You can't ignore that aspect. Why the fuck is Bobby layne on your list? Why? Y.A. Tittle - what are you doing? Jurgensen? really WTF how about no. How about Brett Favre waiting a year. Eil Manning, Philip Rivers. Rothlisberger was not supposed to start his 1st season but had to and shocked people. That whole 04 draft class didn't start game one. They were seniors and one junior - and you want the 16 game starter to be drafted and start immediately? NFL speed eats this kid alive. he sits one year.
If Option B happens I will throw my remote at my TV. Someone will be there to tie me up incase this happens
NDmick I just listed HOF QBs. Here are some more recent guys. Peyton, Eli, Big Ben, Flacco, Ryan, Vick, Bledsoe, McNair, Collins, McNabb, Dilfer, Carr, Harrington, etc. These guys did not spend a year or two on the bench. The list of 1st year starters is too huge to do. The best Qbs all started games in their rookie season if not from day one. Not all QBs drafted in the 1st round are good ones, but the good QBs will still be better starting the 1st season rather than on the bench. Name one QB who said he was glad to sit rather than start?
Carson Palmer, who is missing from your list. He was one of the best in the league until he got hurt a few years back
Sanchez actually reminds me a lot of Norm Van Brocklin in terms of his mobility and knack for making plays.
My biggest fear is we will draft a QB, hardly play him at all for 3 years, then give up on him and draft a new one.
