So when I come home in June I am debating on going to see a game, it's been a long time since I've been to a Mets home game but they are playing the Tigers during the week (whom I've seen) the Twinkees (whom I've also seen) or thinking of going to visit family in Maryland and going to Camden Yards to see the Orioles and Marlins (whom I've also seen) or Nationals (whom I saw when they were the Expos) Now the money isn't a factor but apparently Mets games on the weekend regardless of who they play are more expensive then during the week and of all the options the Orioles games are the cheapest. There is also the possibilty of seeing Strasburg (however small it is). What would you do?
If you can go see Strasburg, do it. Otherwise, If you havent been to Citi Field you should go check it out.
All three ballparks (Citi Field, Camden Yards, and Nationals Park) are nice, and worth seeing, so if you haven't been in one, that's a reasonable factor to consider. Obviously seeing Strasburg could be lots of fun, but of course that's a risky tactic, since you probably would have lots of trouble getting tickets to a game he pitched.
I would go Twins-Mets at Citi Field. Camden Yards is a great place, but dead as a door nail these days. I went a couple weeks ago and it was 70% empty. I went to Nationals Park last weekend and its pretty cool, but if I were you I would go with the Mets.
So rumor has it Strasburg could potentially be making his debut in one of the Baltimore games. I'm really leaning towards a trip to Baltimore but a lot is going to depend on the Strasburg story. I'd be hard to pass up the potential to see this kid make his MLB debut especially if he turns out to be like Nolan Ryan or Juice Clemens. It'd be kind of cool to see Santana pitch against the Twins though plus I have a few friends who are Twins fans. It's a tough cal, glad I don't have to make a decision today.
I take that back, They're saying June 8th as his debut against the Pirates, then Baltimore on Friday June 25th which is the game I was thinking about is the one he actually would pitch if my math is correct. It should be his 4th start after going against Pittsburgh, Cleveland, CWS and then Baltimore.
Don't even bother considering seeing Strasburg's debut. According to Olney, within an hour of the announcement there were no longer any available seats, and box seats were selling on StubHub for $2000.
My week got pushed back so the Mets are on the road but I will be in Baltimore so it becomes a question of Matt Wieters bobblehead or Nats vs Mets...
If you want to see Strasburg they are airing his final AAA game on Versus tomorrow at 1 PM and replaying it at 7.
I saw him pitch in college and it was as good as advertised (granted it was against a terrible UNLV team) but still awesome none the less. Tony Gwynn didn't do a lot of good for the Aztec baseball team but finding this kid was awesome.
I'm actually not gonna be there the weekend I thought I was, Mets are in Florida so I'm going to Baltimore, they'll be playing the A's and it's Matt Weiters bobblehead night!!!!
After last season when I had an awful time at Citi Field (terrible seats and then had problems getting on the subway- both firsts for me in over 25 trips to Flushing through the years) and then had a kid born in July, I didn't know if I'd go back anytime soon. Well, a friend from Pennsylvania expressed interest in going to see the Mets and so we got tickets. I'll be at the Astros game on August 28.
