We all know that most good or even great college QBs never make it in the NFL and some of the best NFL QB weren't great or good, but just above average in college. Just look at Brett Favre’s college stat, they were that impressive. Tony Romo wasn't even drafted and the best QB of all time was picked in the 6th round. So every draft a bunch of QBs are analyzed and deconstructed, but you never really know if you are drafting a dud or a stud. One’s a year early who were a sure thing have fallen off the radar and some new names show up to the dance (Trubisky).

The good teams don't wait to draft QBs or draft them purely out of need. During the time Tom Brady has been the starter in New England the Patriots have drafted eight other QBs. Green Bay Acquired Brett Favre in 1992 and made him their starter that year. After getting Favre, GB drafted 10 more QBs during his 16 years there. Since Acquiring Rogers they have drafted 5 additional QBs. This is the same team who has now had just two starting QBs over the last 25 years.

Now some teams are lucky and have a solid franchise guy and don't have to draft a lot of QBs. Pittsburgh has only drafted 3 QBs since Big Ben and he has been their starter for 12, now 13 seasons, but this is not the norm. You keep drafting a QB until you finally get the guy, and the Jets still need their guy. If Hack or Petty does turn out to be better than currently thought, it’s a win win for us, but the NFL averages says they won't be.

The Jets need to keep drafting a QB until they get there guy and if they are really lucky more than one might turn out to be decent and we might just get our franchise guy.

Now with that said, I feel there is only one guy that is good enough to draft this year and that is Trubisky. The rest of them have more questions or concerns than the guys already on our roster. If we don't get Trubisky, we need to stay the course with the three on the roster and see if just maybe one of our young QBs win out.

If David Webb falls to round three I would add him to our QB derby.

    Otherwise, pass on the position.

Jimmy Garrapolo and Teddy Bridgewater will be UFAs in 2018 even if we do not have a high draft pick next year.

I would not mind Webb in round two. But I think he might have a chance of jumping into round one.

But I do understand the argument against spending a round two pick this year on a QB. The depth of this year's draft is so good we can get 1st rd value with our 2nd pick.

Webb (and Mahomes) seem to have the highest upside of any of the QBs. I would be all for taking him in round 3 if he is still there.

He just wants to make sure he was not misunderstood about wanting Trubisky. That is "Why Trubisky is the only option and Watson is overrated" but that was not clear enough so he then "Just watched more tape on Mitchell Trubisky..[and came to the conclusion] He is the only pick at #6". He wanted to really drive that point home so he blessed us with, "JetFan's Mock draft...[letting us know] this would improve our offense and secondary". All that was just the build up the culmination of all his Trubisky threads that it's either "Trubisky at #6 or we should skip a QB completely". Of course don't forget to draft a "QB over DB any day...[The Jets have] drafted more busts at DB"

If you replace "Trubisky" with Mahomes, you'd be closer to the truth, although I would consider Peterman in the 3rd as a fall back.

Mahomes makes much more sense for a team with poor to mediocre pass protection since he can make something out of nothing better than anyone else, which he'll probably have to do a lot. Also, his arm is much stronger than anyone else's, and he has demonstrated an ability to make multiple reads and go through progressions. Throw him into the fire this year and he'll either rise to the occasion and prove to be the FQB I believe he is, or he'll show that he's just another bust from an Air Raid system, either way the Jets will know what they have to do in 2018.

You need some water, while you at it go get some for me. If I recall right, weren't you all in love with Geno? How did that turn out?

Mahomes is slower than Trubisky and Trubisky is a better pocket QB. When you have a young OL, it is better to have a QB stay in the pocket, since it is easier to protect them.

Ah, the old water comment because my nick is The Waterboy, you are so clever. And you recall completely wrong, you would find it hard to find one statement from me that is more positive than a "hope Geno's good since the Jets picked him"

If he's there at 6, I'd dangle the pick like a carrot in front of a horse and make some other team my bitch.
