Does anybody think that he may be able to help the Jets somehow......He is coming of a hamstring injury. http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/9723720
Yeah, i do think he can help us. He wasn't bad last year and if he doesnt get injured, he can help since justin miller isn't doing a great job. I don't think it's gonna happen though
If he could play CB opposite of Dyson, wouldn't Vincent give our secondary a great boost. J. Miller just kills me......He's got no drive. Looks like he is just running through the motions. Will the salary cap even allow us to make an attempt for Vincent (Since we just signed Poteat).
He could tell us everything about the Bills' offensive and defensive schemes. Which is basically why we signed Poteat (for Pats schemes).
I have to agree with hydro. Personnaly, I feel that when someone has spent so much time in a certain system, then changes, it usually means they are done. Troy Vincent was an awesome saftey, But is he now is the question. Personal, I can see him goin back to the eagles.
Its experience which we dont have much of. He could maybe start but more importantly-if hes willing-he can teach.
We don't? Funny, but we just cut a guy that started at FS 2 weeks ago. We're not exactly set at the position. In fact, none of our safeties can cover worth a crap. We could use Vincent as a depth player at least.
we probably could use him. Right now we really have only 2 safeties coleman and rhodes. We dont know if e.smith can cover and washington is really only a ST player
He still is an awesome safety. He was converted to safety last year and put up some of his best numbers. Hes a former CB turned Safety, not the other way around
I thought Mawae was released because we didn't want locker-room lawyers banging on about player rights, etc? Vincent is the NFLPA Player head rep dude, isn't he?
yeah hes one of the highest up there in the NFLPA. so i agree it would be hypocritical. but at the same time, since mawae was a jet 8 yrs prior to mangini's arrival. the attitude pretty much was that mawae would see this as "his team" and try to delegate to mangini instead of vice versa if we did pick him up, it would be more of a situation where Vincent would be lucky to be signed. its not often a name like him gets cut midseason unless its very obvious hes washed up, at least IMO.
i'm a strong believer in rotating someone with Justin Miller. Miller has to be a starting corner. If we're drafting guys in round 2, you can't just have them come in for kickoffs and dime packages. Just rotate him until his play improves. Even though it seems like the whole board is on his arse, I think he still has the potential to be a very good CB. Can't give up on him now. So a no-no to T. Vincent.
