Its probably a contractual impasse so he's playing the only card he has to play. These are voluntary workouts after all but the team is learning a new D and this is their first time with the new coaches. Would have been nice to have everyone there.

He stated about 2 months ago that he had no intentions of holding out but maybe he doesn't view skipping voluntary workouts as holding out. The part about the tweet that got me was "might not be around for a while"

it's obviously related to the contract, he's basically saying this may longer into training camp if something isn't done.

This is concerning. not so much that he is holding out, but that i really dont think they value him and cans ee them dumping him at the draft

geez..who gives a shit if he shows up or not, it's voluntary..worry if he doesn't show up for camp and don't even worry then, worry if he isn't here for opening day.

I don't know how that determination can be made when a new staff took over only a few months ago. they had many areas to address before Mo's new deal. They can franchise Mo next year so there's no rush. I also understand Mo's frustration, he has been patient and did and said all the right things. I still expect him to be here long term but clearly he wants to speed up that process.

Yeah , they obviously had holes they needed to address but my guess is that Mo will be extended sometime before the draft and this will be nothing in the long run.

Maccagnan said last week he will address it AFTER the draft, not before. Guessing that might depend on who we do draft in the 1st round.

"Mo Matters: While the Jets have shifted their focus towards the draft, Maccagnan says they’ll address DE Muhammad Wilkerson[IMG]’s contract after the NFL’s annual selection process.

The agent and Muhammad have their perspective and we’re going to have our point and at the end of the day - hopefully a middle ground that we’re both comfortable with,” he said. “Muhammad is a very good player. We would obviously like to keep him a Jet, but again that’s a whole other process that we have to go through and I don’t want to really get too deep into that at this point of time because that’s something that will work itself out in the near future.”

He's not getting JJ Watt money.

You're reading too much into the situation.....right now.

But Sheldon Richardson and Wilkerson are about the same caliber of player. And Richardsons contract will be coming up soon. Does the front office want to tie thay much money into the Defensive line?
Both players get sacks, but that's not exactly their specialty, so that's a lot of money to pay for two lineman who don't specialize in sacking the QB.

Hopefully it can all get worked out with them remaining Jets.

eh.. its voluntary. They aren't allowed to do football stuff anyway. He's trying to get a contract so he's skipping spin class and working out at home. I think it was expected

This is phase 1 of ota's. Coaches are not allowed to have contact with ghe players yet. This is strictly strength and conditioning and rehab. Not much to see here, just mo letting them know he wants a deal soon.

I'm hoping for a "turns out Muhammad Wilkerson has the flu" along the lines of "osi umenyiora was just at the jets facility on a social visit". We don't need this crap.

I would trade Mo Wilkerson straight up for the second pick in the draft. So this way we can grab Leonard Williams in the draft at #2. we can have him replace Mo as the left end. Mo is too expensive and is due for a monstrous contract.
