Trey Teague, the Jets' forgotten center, was spotted in the team's weight room working out while his teammates were outside practicing. But soon Teague will rejoin them ? he was removed from the PUP list Tuesday.

That means Teague, who broke his left ankle during the June passing camp, counts on the active roster. The Jets have to move 21 players by Saturday to reach the NFL's 53-man roster limit.

Eric Mangini offered no update on when Teague might return to action, and he could miss the first game or two.

But when Teague is ready, the question will be whether he regains the center position or becomes the backup to rookie Nick Mangold.

    Kimo's well wishes

Many tuned to ESPN on Monday night to see Cincinnati QB Carson Palmer's return to action after seven months of rehabbing two knee ligaments torn on the second play of the Bengals' playoff loss to Pittsburgh.

Kimo von Oelhoffen, now a Jet but then the Steelers' defensive end who was blocked into Palmer's knee, didn't watch, but not because he didn't care.

"I'm happy to see him respond,'' von Oelhoffen said of Palmer's three TD passes against Green Bay.

DT Tui Alailefaleula (knee) was placed on injured reserve. Following Sione Pouha being IR-ed and Monsanto Pope leaving camp, nose tackle is becoming quite thin. ... The Jets still could sign a veteran such as Brentson Buckner, but for the Eagles' preseason finale, Matt McChesney, Titus Adams and Brennan Schmidt should get extended looks.
