Im sure this has been brought up but the idea of having Taylor Mays sounds like a dream come true and a nightmare for opposing defenses. Our main problem on defense was our pass coverage last year, adding a first rounder to our secondary is not a bad idea. Now Rex Ryan is known for his genius blitz packages and is the reason we create so much pressure, and the idea of having a 6-3 safety who runs a 4.4 and hits like a mack truck on the football field as an added blitzer is just a perfect weapon for Rex's blitz packages. Draft pundits are saying that at 230 pounds and with the strength he posses he could even play linebacker. On running downs its like adding an extra linebacker allowing us to stuff the run even better than before. The thing that makes this idea sound so sweet to me is that if he is placed on the same side of the field as Revis he will barely be needed as over the top help and would be free to do a lot of the things I mentioned. Obviously, this all depends on where he drops to in the draft, but we all know Tannenbaum is not afraid to go up and get his guy in a draft day trade. McShay's latest draft has him going to the eagles six spots ahead of us. If he is there i hope our GM can pull another rabbit out of his hat on draft day and get the perfect compliment to Revis and our defense.

    1. You spelled his last name wrong.
    2. He cannot cover.
    3. Most teams looking at him are 4-3 defense teams looking to make him a MLB.
    4. McShay is an idiot and Mays shouldn't even be drafted in the first round.

Rex likes guys who can wrap up and tackle. Mays tries to tackle people with his chest.

It's a complicated legal process, and I'm pretty sure that you'd have to be his legal guardian and he'd have to be a minor.

For once, we do not have many glaring needs and while an extra safety would be nice, I'd rather keep Rhodes, stay at 29 and take a CB or someone for depth along the O or D lines.

Kind of because almost everyone is admitting he was over-rated... hence he isn't overrated anymore!

This thread IMO fails... sure Mays can hit but Gibril Wilson can too... and fans don't exactly love him... nor do they love other big hitting S with no other skill.
