The NFL has pushed the trading deadline back to the Tuesday after the eighth week of the season. It's a much-needed change. Previously, the deadline was the Tuesday following Week 6, not giving teams enough time to decide if they're buyers or sellers. The extra two weeks has the potential to generate more trades. Also, the league announced that there will be a new "injured reserve exception" going forward. One player per team will be allowed to come off IR at some point later in the season. http://rotoworld.com/player/nfl/2550/carson-palmer
This is going to be good for a lot of teams in the NFL that understand that trades are usually just a panacea and need to be approached accordingly. It's going to be a disaster for the Jets until Woody and Tannenbaum change the organizational philosophy around to be more effective. I can see future draft picks flying out the window every season as the Jets try to make a big splash at game 8. The difference between game 6 and game 8 is that many more teams will be willing to offer their b-quality stars for big returns at mid-season. At game 6 it is too early to punt on this year. By game 8 it is easy.
