The "fun" thing about this message board is that IF anyone suggests ANY trade or free agency pickup, about 60% of the respondents crucify the idea/the thread/the person who started it. etc. So to give those losers who never have their own idea but, like a movie critic, spend their time degrading everyone else's, here's your chance: I think the jets really need a breakaway RB next year. Thomas Jones is a warrior, but he is not a home run hitter and has 1 year left on his contract--I would not make the Terry Boobway mistake of resigning an aging vet to a long term deal (like Martin, Chrebet, Marvin Jones, etc, and end up eating most the contract). The Falcon game demonstrated how the jets generic offense with a pathetic QB can spoil a great defensive effort (save one series). Even if Feely makes those field goals, that equates to 1 touchdown against the mighty Falcon defense. One guy I'd like the jets to try to trade for is D. McFadden of the Raiders--I FULLY understand that the Raiders may not move him, but consider that they always seem to like Fargas better and M. Bush has looked good for the last 2-3 weeks. Here's hoping in the offseason the jets could package Gholston, Rhodes and something/somebody else and make a run at McFadden. I don't think S. Greene is much different than Thomas Jones in that both make few people miss, but each can give you a consistent effort. Just a thought, but McFadden is a guy I really liked in the draft a few years ago, and POSSIBLY could be acquired on the cheap this offseason, especially if it's uncapped. We don't know if Leon is coming back and what he can give us next year. My other thought from watching the Falcons game is that the jets must get a punt returner. Cotchery doesn't even come close to making anyone miss--Maybe the jets should consider someone like Miami's Ginn, NOT as a receiver, but just as a return specialist--The jets defense deserves better on the other side of the ball and that includes returns. Flame away all you who prefer the status quo (and no playoffs)!
JESUS! RB is not a major concern, nor is a punt returner, Leon will be back. We need TE's, NT, OG, DL/DE, OLB.
Not the Colts, their fans are all ignorant blobs. http://kissingsuzykolber.uproxx.com...early-enough-time-hating-these-fat-humps.html http://kissingsuzykolber.uproxx.com...usly-confirmed-status-as-fat-whiny-humps.html
why does everyone like to think they can package all the guys that suck on their team and get a guy thats good from another team?
Not sure why the Raiders would dump McFadden, he was a first round choice and is still young. Not sure why you don't like Greene as he has shown he can break a long run, maybe not explosive like a Leon Washington but good enough. I agree that the RB position will need some depth, especially if Jones does not come back, but as of right now looks like he will be here again next year, with Jones, Greene and Washington I think the team will be ok at RB next year.
I would trade Gholston & Rhodes for Dmac but first I would try to trade them for AP, I would even consider throwing Drew Coleman into the package if I had to. After that I wouldn't mind trading Izzo for DWare, he is an upgrade from B Thomas.
Heres an idea- Let TJ walk, lockup Leon long term and draft CJ Spiller. Our running backs would be Greene, Leon and Spiller. Most electric trio in the NFL. I know we need help on defense but we can spend our 2nd on a DE or OLB and sign another couple of top defensive talents like last offseason (Think Adalius, Seymour, Hampton). Better that we draft a young stud in Spiller and be absolutely set at the position for the next 7-8 years than lock upTJ who will start regressing before we know it.
We traded up to get Greene so i doubt that RB is high on the list of "must haves". I'm sure we will be resigning TJ, which i'm all for, and Greene will be a good one in time. Punt returner is a glaring need for sure. We don't know what we are going to get out of Leon but i guess that'll be a wait and see type thing. As far as you including Chrebet and Martin in your list of mistakes by Bradway i take exception as they did not decline because of age.
Or we could keep the best runningback that we've had since Curtis Martin. Why would you let a RB that has gotten over 1,000 yards several seasons in a row go? I understand he is getting older but if it aint broke dont fix it.
How can you call Greene and Jones similar backs? Don't you notice a HUGE difference in running style when they spell each other. And don't forget about Leon, RB is not a concern. OL DL OLB CB if Lito doesn't stay
Well, it's not a HUGE difference. Both aren't the fastest and aren't going to make people miss. However, Greene hits the hole faster and harder, has more speed and breaks more tackles. Greene can run people over.
