Trade for Duckett or sign Jonathan Wells?

Wells would come relatively cheap - he has shown the ability to shoulder the load (20+ touches per game) when Dom Davis has been hurt and is a very good receiver out of the backfield.

Or we could cough up a player or draft pick to acquire TJ. Who seems to be fat and slow, but I could be wrong. I also have no recollection of him ever carrying the load.

    Which would you do?

Can we afford to sign Grady Jackson and Wells, or is trading the best option for cap reasons?

Why not trade for Brandon Jacobs? 240+ lb battering ram with speed.

Duckett makes no sense. You might as go after Ron Dayne for that matter. Really don't want to see fat, slow RB's

I don't want to keep plugging square pegs in round holes. In other words, I don't want to keep signing stopgap running backs. That only extends the problem. If that means we have to wait one year to make a better move for a very good RB, then do that. If there's a chance of making a better deal later on, then don't make a hasty move today for a decent guy in the name of getting 2 more wins this season, especially when this team is not that great to begin with.

When has Wells shown the ability to really shoulder the load? If he had that ability, he'd be signed. Now would I add him? Possibly, but I wouldn't expect a 1000 yd rusher.

Duckett is a far superior runner to Wells.

Of course, for Duckett we would have to spend a draft pick...

Because the Giants realize they need 2 backs to keep Tiki fresh, and Ward broke his foot.

Duckett reported to camp in his best shape ever, according to reports. (Of course, it is a contract year.) However, he's never really been considered fat.

As for his speed, he's actually quite fast. Not the most agile player in the world, but he's got great straightline speed for a guy his size. FWIW, he ran a 4.41 at his pro day at Michigan State.

2007 was voided by his meeting certain performance clauses.

I'll say it again, trading a 3rd for Duckett would be worse than any move Bradway made while GM.
