Someone suggested this may be interesting to track, so I went ahead and setup a spreadsheet to track it. Obviously one week is just one week and we'll need more data to see if there are any real trends here. There are also so many other variables in play I'm not even sure how valuable this type of comparison is. They play on different teams, with different team mates against different schedules. So, FWIW, here it goes. I'll update this weekly.

After week 2 there will be an additional chart for each QB's 2012 season averages vs. Career averages.

I hope you keep this thread up. Even though Sanchez had a bad game, it would still be nice to see how the numbers pan out for the rest of the season.

I will do it every week regardless.

Impressed by the effort, but you have entirely too much time on your hands.

It takes maybe 20 minutes a week now that the spreadsheet is setup.

So am I the only one wondering why we're comparing Sanchez to a QB that has 1 less year of experience, was injured all last year, and has worse WR's?

The comparison for each qb is to themselves. Only after being compared to themselves are the results compared to each other.

I thought the reason was obvious, but I guess not. It's to compare how each qb does with and without schotty as the OC. As already noted there are obviously many outside variables that need to be a considered when analyzing this.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I don't really understand the methodology in this comparison. Why are we comparing this season's numbers to their career numbers? This can only provide a very simplified measure of which QB has shown more improvement this year; it doesn't compare them in any other way. Is that the point? If so, then I suppose this comparison has some limited usefulness. I just want to make sure I'm understanding correctly.

EDIT: nevermind, you just answered that question

Tbh I'm not sure how useful it is considering all the variables involved. We'll see how it goes.

Great post, LTJF. Thanks for doing the research and keeping us updated. It appears that Sanchez has increased his overall yardage thus far, although his comp% and rating has dropped a bit. For Bradford he's improved slightly all around. Sanchez needs a big game this week!

1/4 into the season, and we have a big drop in 2 major categories: completion percentage, QBR. We've also stagnated at TD:inteception ratio.

Like I pointed out in my original post, there are many variables to consider too. Sanchez needs to play much, much better but the other variables are certainly complicating matters at this point.

Sorry but this is a pointless experiment. The numbers arent going to all of a sudden make sense once you've finished.
