Poor kid. I have only ever followed the Jets, England and Newcastle United and so have never known any vicarious success in well over 30 years of fandom (and that is not likely to change in the foreseeable future). I asked my mate (a longtime 49ers fan) what is was like to support a team that actually won stuff (albeit not for a while). He said it was great.

Last night was the first time my 4 year old watched an entire game with me. She sat through the whole thing. She...she's so fucking innocent. She has no idea what horror is in store.
Every franchise has games like this. Every franchise is just like the Jets. The Jets aren't special. There is no curse. The Steelers have lost to the 4-12 Jets. The SB Packers lost to Miami last year in OT. This shit just happens. It hurts, and it should. But the Jets aren't a special franchise that only has heartbreaking losses.
Memo to the kid: you're one thousand percent correct, and too young to know all this. Also, there's no such thing as Santa Claus.
I think someone should call social services. Allowing your six-year-old to become a Jets fan is borderline abuse.
