I saw 100% eclipse in 1999 while living in Turkey. It is a spectacular event if you have never done it. Too bad NJ is only 90% and it is cloudy. Maybe generational thing but my teenager boys have zero interest in it.
I'm in the totality line. Ready to go. Side note, Jets Facebook has a picture of Rodgers wearing regular sun glasses with the caption "eclipse ready." https://www.facebook.com/share/p/qiYGMjnDnCu63Hpt/?mibextid=oFDknk
Totality was much cooler than I anticipated. It got extremely dark, and the halo around the eclipse made the sky extremely visible. Could see a few planets, and a red dot on the bottom of the eclipse that I think was a solar flare.
Buddy is down in Texas and his dad is an Astro physicist so he had the equipment to grab something like this.
Well I was getting ready to get on I75 and decided, let me look through the sun roof, what's the worst that could happen. Then I realized it hadn't even started yet. Probably should have had some sunglasses on. I think it was only getting to around 60% here so wasn't real too big a deal made of it by most I talked to. I do know of a few people here who got stuck with a bunch of glasses they couldn't sell.
You sure picked the middle of nowhere. From someone who lives down the street from Burlington. My friends driving home to Boston aren't even halfway and they left 4 hours ago.
It was basically the closest place in totality that we could get a campsite. Gourgeous day for it too.
It was. Easily best weather we've had since September. I had both doors open for a cross breeze and short sleeves. This time last week we had a foot plus of snow.
I have a buddy right outside of St. Albans, he said it was pretty lit. He wasn't making a pun, he was probably high as fck.
I'm in the LOHUD, it was about 90%. I do welfare checks/bring food to a couple of out there neighbors of mine: "Them eclipse glasses are all from China. It's a plan to blind us all. Don't you be looking at that stuff." They always say things like that. "Don't you be drinking that municipal water, it's poisoned. That flouride charade when we were kids, it was mind control drugs." And then you start thinking on the way home, lol. Anyway, I coincidentally did NOT buy glasses. I worked in my Studio and sort of ignored the whole thing.
We had 100% back in 2017 here. Yesterday was 70%. Was driving home , looked like a summer day right before a storm rolls in. Didn’t have glasses for this one.
I was all pumped for Halley's Comet in 1986. Yeah, well, it was the "worst viewing in 2,000 years", so I said frig it and fell asleep. I'll be 97 in 2061 when it comes around again, so there's always a chance.
I was working from home so I went out to my back porch and saw a few peeks of the full eclipse between clouds a couple of times. The thing I thought was cool was the birds went completely silent when the sky was at its darkest. I had a tree full of annoying grackles that didn't have anything to say for 10 beautiful seconds.
