    It'll cost you at least 10 mill and probably with his option for next year 20 mill. No thanks...

    arent the blue jays paying that?

    the Blue Jays are being stupid.

    They're eating contracts right and left for no good reason.

    They signed Reed Johnson to a one year deal and then released him before the season. Now he's starring for the Cubs.

    exactly. you can get him for league minimum but that could still be somewhat high for him.

    Not from my understanding... you take him on and you take on his contract. I'm no lawyer but that was the point made on Ed Randall's show this week and he is usually spot on 99% of the time. They said you take him on for this year and if he gets 350 AB's (which isn't actually that many) he'd get the player option for next year. I'd imagine if he could be signed for the minimum he would be already.

    if he's claimed off waivers you take on the contract. If he clears waivers you don't.

    My understanding is that Toronto is on the hook for all of it. That was announced when he was released so you are correct.
