Just for fun, let's say the Jets make some crazy deal, nab the #2 overall pick from Detroit and will target one of these top tier offensive playmakers.

Who do you think is the better prospect? Who do you think the Jets would/should target?

Have fun with this one, fellas.

You'll also notice that I misspelled "Johnson", and can't figure out how to edit it. PLEASE forgive me. Some people can be pretty harsh on this board, heh. Now let the debate begin!!!!!!!!!!

The Jets don't need a star RB or WR right now so, since both players are equally unnecessary, I'd go with Calvin because he's the better talent.

No I'm not crazy. I'm just staying there are more glaring needs on the Jets right now. With Leon, Houston, Coles, and Cotchery I like where the Jets are with RB and WR right now.

Calvin Johnson is the better prospect.

    RB is the bigger need.

I'd probably take Johnson if I traded up to #2, but that's not something I think the Jets should do.

Hey, remember that 'CAN'T MISS' prospect Mike Williams? He is a FREAK OF NATURE! Well, maybe not. I'm sick of draft hype, both of these players could be complete busts.

I'm also a firm believer in building the o/d-lines first, but CJ is a guy I'd be willing to put the line-building on hold for.

I'm willing to go out on a limb and say there is a 0% chance Calvin Johnson is a bust.

I am wondering wha would be better. There is no one on our offense that really scares anyone. I mean Cothery is good but I don't think our WR scare anyone.

So what would be better having a tall dep threat? I mean Johnson would make teams respect that we have a deep threat stretch the field a little. So teams would not put 8 men in the box and shorten the field. I think with Johnson even Chad could toss up one of those punt like throws and have Johnson run under it.

Or is Adrian Petersen better? Having one of the great running backs coming out of college in like a decade. I mean Schott knows the importance of having a LT on your offense. With Petersen in the backfield you have to respect the running game and you can build your O around a great running back. Which would open up the passing game.

Anyway we would walk away with an awesome offensive weapon whoever we would chose at #2. We do need a playmaker on O. So which would be better a great passing threat or running threat?

Calvin Johnson is the superior prospect. No doubt.

If all things we're equal I'd say Johnson is the better choice. Our O-line is effective in pass protection, which means the guy will have time to get open. Having a guy like that on the field makes defenses play differently, and can potentially help the running game as much as a guy like Peterson could.

Johnson is the bigger impact from day one.

They are both phenomenal college talents and both could be perennial pro bowlers but RBs get more touches and running games are important in Championship runs. Therefore I'll take Peterson.

PS: I wouldn't trade up for either of these guys at the price it would cost. Unlike Reggie Bush last year, I don't think either one of these guys will be the special player Bush will be over the next 6-8 years.

Just judging from their body of work in college. The edge goes to Calvin Johnson. Adrian started out phenomenally, but all the injuries he's had the last couple of years tells me he won't make that much difference in the NFL. Plus!! the Lions would be fools ( I know that sounds like an oxy-moron) to not demand the same type of bounty that the Saints were asking for last year when Reggie Bush was available at #2. I think Reggie Bush is a lot better, and far more of a game changer than Adrian Peterson.

just thought I'd include this to the debate: I have a pretty good source that tells me the team is not a fan of Peterson.

I don't want to get into who my source is, why they aren't fans, or any of that shit, you can take it or leave it, but I don't think we'd trade up for Peterson. Frankly, I don't think we'd trade up, but that's irrelevant for this topic.

barring injury, I completely agree. hands down best player in the draft and one of the best to come out in a while.

I dont know if you mean Mike Williams the LT or Mike Williams the WR, but both of them had work ethic issues and thats why they suck. Calvin Johnson was a phenom with Reggie Ball as QB. AP was a juggernaut his rookie year and having another monster year before the injury.

  20. CJ is the better prospect but AP is def. a great one, would potentially touch the ball more and fills a bigger need.
