The Senior Bowl game is anti-climatic, and most scouts have left Mobile. OK guys, here's a list of the top players practice week in Mobile, provided by Colin Lindsay from The Great Blue North Draft Site. I saw quite a few practices on the NFLN, Colin is pretty much right on. Colin's rankings: Top 10 players in Mobile 1. Boston College DT B.J. Raji 2. Mississippi DT Peria Jerry 3. Western Michigan FS Louis Delmas 4. Alabama C Antoine Caldwell 5. Southern Miss TE Shawn Nelson 6. Wake Forest CB Alphonso Smith 7. Northern Illinois DE Larry English 8. USC LB Brian Cushing 9. Virginia Tech CB Macho Harris 10. California C Alex Mack Honorable mentions: NC State RB Andre Brown; Ohio State WR Brian Robiskie, Oklahoma WR Juaquin Iglesias, Washington State WR Brandon Gibson, Oklahoma State TE Brandn Pettigrew, UConn OT William Beatty, USC DE Kyle Moore, Oklahoma LB Nik Harris, Maryland LB Moise Fokuo, Oregon DB Patrick Chung, Alabama FS Rashad Johnson, Oregon State CB Keenan Lewis, . Raji had the best week, hands down, the kid was in a league of his own. ("Man against Boys" ,doesn't even begin to describe his domination) Talk about someone who has earned a ton of cash by not declaring last year, he was on the fence. IMO, a possible top ten pick in April. Larry English had an awesome week, the Jet's Scouts interviewed him extensively. Delmas looked very good. Delmas would awesome in Green & White!!
Shawn Nelson looks like a stud at TE. Not a Jets' need though I also like Macho Harris a lot...hopefully he'll be there in the second for us.
Is Ayers being overblown this year? I feel like he will be another board riser that should have stayed where he was when its all said and done at the end of April.
Anyone see Nic Harris? Safety + Linebacker.. i think Rex would really like him 'cause of his versatility...
i saw him on the network and the kid looks good he did good on adjusting to the ball and shadowing the offensive guy.. i like him and would take him but there projecting him for olb and he is like 230 240 so for us he is a tweener
I loved Nik Harris at OU, and I think he's going to be a stud in the NFL, even with the switch down to Linebacker. It's a shame he's too small for our system.
Top 10 players in Mobile 1. Boston College DT B.J. Raji 2. Mississippi DT Peria Jerry 3. Western Michigan FS Louis Delmas 4. Alabama C Antoine Caldwell 5. Southern Miss TE Shawn Nelson 6. Wake Forest CB Alphonso Smith 7. Northern Illinois DE Larry English 8. USC LB Brian Cushing 9. Virginia Tech CB Macho Harris 10. California C Alex Mack I'd take any of these defensive players on the Jets. Raji is in a class all his own. English and Delmas would be nice additions, they are both smaller school prospects that belong big time. Macho Harris, looks like a confident NFL CB...right now.
Some may think English is too much like Gholston, to a point they are right. English is a terror rushing the QB.....relentless. Some things that stand out about English vs.Gholston debate. English makes many tackles in the open field, something that VG isn't noted for. English has great change of direction and lateral movement, something IMO Ghoston lacks, he's more of a staight on player. FWIW, English has been voted the MAC most valuable player 2 years in a row, for a defensive player . Not Bad company..... Pennington, Big Ben, Moss, Leftwich, all have received the honor. IT"S AMAZING THAT A DEFENSIVE PLAYER HAS BEEN NAMED 2 YEARS IN A ROW!!!!! IT's UNHEARD OF!!! I've been watching players for years and years, after a while you get a "gut insticnt" if a player is a "FootBall Player". English is a football player......never felt that way about Gholston, he's an athlete.
^ thats why I've become enamored with English--- football player. Nothing else. Those are the guys that Parcells, Ryan, Labeau, etc draft.
I believe that we will make a play for a pass rushing LB. Gholston might be too much of a risk going into the season and still unsure of what kind of player he will be. I just don't think it will be his first pick. The inside LB in my opinion will be addressed first. The good ones will go in the first rd.
Macho Harris lives about 25-30 feet away from me (i go to VT). He's a great football player and goes 100% on every play. And he will be there in the 2nd round for us i believe
Better rethink that. VT has had lots of 1st-2nd round secondary picks that haven't turned out so great lately. Just off the top of my head in the past 5 years or so- Vincent Fuller, Eric Green, Jimmy Williams, DeAngelo Hall, Aaron Rouse, Brandon Flowers. i do think Macho Harris will be a good NFL CB, but VT's history with 1st day picks in the secondary hasn't been excellent.
Aren't you a little harsh on Brandon Flowers?????? Let's give the kid a chance!!! Flowers is small, if he was a couple of inches taller, he would have went in Rd 1. Can't call him a bust yet. I'm even willing to give Eric Green another year to prove himself. Deangelo Hall has all the ability in the world......he's just a head case. Jimmy Williams was a big disappointment.
Based on everything I've heard Brandon Flowers was tremendous for a rookie CB in KC. Aaron Rouse has shown promise as well.
He was. I have no idea in hell why Steve032 would add Flowers to that list. Fuller - 4th round FS. Green - 3rd round CB, injured his first year, never recovered. Williams - 2nd round safety. The definition of a bust. Hall - You're using Hall as an example of a bad player? Look, he's not Asomugha, or Revis, or any other top corner, but what the hell? Rouse - 3rd round Safety. Played well when he got his shot and was injured off and on this past season. What the hell kind of list is this? You picked three safeties to support your argument, listed players that weren't bad or just succumbed to injuries, and then tried to argue that Brandon Flowers was bad, too? Flowers was amazing for KC, especially considering they arguably had one of the worst pass rushing defenses of all time. I award you no points, and may god have mercy on your soul.
