I pointed it out in the game thread, but figured I'd point it out here too. Just another indication that our coaching staff needs to be changed. Arguably our most explosive player with 3 carries. Richardson had 5.
I don't think that was such a bad thing. Leon's quickness is relatively ineffective in weather like that. Too much slipping and sliding. Plus, I thought Richardson's tough running was pretty effective. I agree you want the ball in your best players' hands; however, there are times when you really have to take the weather into account, and I think today was one of those. If anything, I think they put the ball in Brett's hands too much today.
In that case, they should have run TJ more, instead of passing so much. Either way you spin it, it's stupid. There is just no way you can spin it to make this CS look competent.
I agree. Usually, I'm all for Leon getting more opportunities, but today, the snow would've negated his biggest weapon.
I agree. I'm not making a case for the CS doing their job. You don't score 3 points and say you coached well. Simple as that. I agree about Jones, although Jones ain't much of a power back either. I did like the Richardson handoffs and they were effective. I'd love to have seen Leon more, but the conditions weren't ideal for that. The only way to spin it is: 3 points. End of story.
I actually couldn't tell the difference between your smiley and your avatar. They looked like the same person.
I mentioned this before as a joke (that the CS stops doing something the second it works) but I think that we may have to take this statement seriously. WHY DON'T THEY EVER REPEAT THINGS THAT ARE SUCCESSFUL?!
Yes if you noticed the 1st drives on the west coast this year looked good but after that we sh*t the bed and change the calls. I dont understand the deep passes when we need 2 0r 3 yards. Jerk off airs one out in double coverage.
While I agree Leon should have had less carries than TJ, I still think he deserves more than 3 carries even in snow.
Because when our players succeed they do so in ways that lead observers to believe the cause of the success was player talent and Brain Shot wants observers to give the credit to the play calling.
I'm actually fine with T. Rich getting more carries in that weather than Leon. But we definitely should've ran more with Jones, especially on the 2nd drive I think it was. Would've made it a lot easier on Brett and maybe he would've never gotten so flustered like he obviously did (he started out the game with dead-on passing and well you know how it ended).
We ran the ball alot, you do have to pass from time to time and unfortunately we have an awful QB thaty is costing us games. You can't run every play.
But not enough...again. There are times when you have to take what's successful which in several games was running it to death. They seem to want to shove Favre down everyone's throat as so they can deem the move successful. I'm almost positive this is coming from above because there is NO WAY IN HELL a Coach can be that stupid.
The run to pass ratio was just about 50-50 until the last few drives. They only passed 6 more times than they ran. When you are down by ten in the last 3 minutes, you have to pass at that point. You cannot just run for the sake of running. Besides, wasn't 12 million spent on the QB position?
Still, run it to make Favre comfortable in the pocket, and he'll have all day to throw if the D can't stop the run
The bigger story is that Jones only had 17 even though he averaged 4 YPC. That is why we lost. Again.
They stopped running in that game too. Even though Jones had 138 yards and 2 TDs in 16 carries. You see the pattern with this staff?
