note: this is not something that I'm suggesting, this is something I'm hearing. Todd McShay just did a mock draft on sportscenter, and when he got to the Jets pick he said "I know multiple people in the organization who think Gurley is among the 2 or 3 best players in this draft, and some think he's THE best. A lot of people around the league agree; he's medically cleared and I really think he's going in the top 10 and I wouldn't be shocked at all if it was to the Jets." (Paraphrased but content accurate). How would you guys feel? I think if both QBs are off the board, the next best position to build your team around is running back. If you've got an explosive AP type back, you can revolve your game plan around it like the Vikings did, and open up 1 on 1s for Marshall and Decker. If the Jets truly believe he's that type of back, I wouldn't be too pissed off, though I'd rather trade back to 9 or 10 to do it. Just wanted to start a discussion on the idea so we aren't caught off guard if this happens.
I may sound like an idiot but I will not complain if this happens if below 4 guys are not on the board when we pick. Winston Mariota Fowler L.Williams A stud RB is more important than a stud WR in my opinion so I wouldn't really mind this. Okay now you can attack
If Cooper is on the board I'll call around to see if anyone in the 9-14 range is eager to move up and take him, then trade down and take Gurley. I think 6 might be a little bit of a stretch.
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gurley isn't the BPA at #6. Cooper, Fowler, Beasley, or White..... one or two will be available at #6.
Very good idea but looks like a lot of teams tries to trade down but not a lot of teams trying to move up. Anyway this is not going to happen. Most likely we will pick either Cooper/White or a passrusher. Don't think this regime will make a risky pick like Gurley right off the bat.
If they take Gurley at 6 it's because they have no plans of getting another QB and in that case Gurley would help out Smith more than any other player they could possibly take there including receivers.
IF the top 5 were winston, mariota, cooper, fowler, and williamd then i wouldnt complain about gurley at 6. He wouldnt be my top choice thiugh
Gurley IMO, is a better football player then Kevin White. I know it's the RB position, but still ... you look at what Gurley can do - no one could stop that man when he was healthy. If Cooper, Fowler, Beasley, all are off the board - if we are STUCK at that pick, Gurley wouldn't make me angry one bit.
To be fair, Seahawks won a SB with Lynch whom Gurley has been compared to. Imagine the Seahawks w/out Lynch?
Minnesota hasn't had a defense since he has been there and finished 31st the last year he played, think that might have something to do with it? Ryan will have a great D in Buffalo and plans to pound the ball with McCoy and I can see Bowles doing the same thing with Gurley.
I'd stop being a fan of this team. Just kidding, but I love when people say things like that. Anyway, I would absolutely HATE the pick. RBs shouldn't be drafted that high in my opinion.
I'd be ok provided they went wr in round 2 and mariota was gone. The Jets offense has been bad for several years. If they came away with Gurley and either Dorsett or DGB how could anyone be upset?
Gurley is similar to Lynch in his physicality and playing style. AP was in a class by himself coming out of college. Questions of Gurley's health and a product of Georgia's system ( see RB, Chubb) don' make him worthy of a top 6 pick, I see him as a mid 1st prospect. It isn't a question of comparing them (Lynch & AP) in relation to 2015's ranking BPA.
I totally agree the Jets should address RB in this draft, just not at# 6. If we trade our #6 for Cleveland's 12 & 19 , I'm totally OK with Gurley. But if we made that trade we passed on MM.
Nobody could stop Chubb too....just saying Georgia's system has something to do with it. Gurley is really good player, but not a good value at #6.
