This does not bode well. After Tanny's horrific interview with Fatcesa last week, Rex apparently consulted with his GM about how to handle the media while under siege. You be the judge of the results. http://tracking.si.com/2012/11/23/rex-ryan-strange-press-conference-call/
Watching Mark Sanchez's ass fumble would make me lose my mind too. I think he's going to start McElroy at this point. Dealing with/rationalizing Sanchez is going to hurt him in the long run.
The combination of his team's failure, coupled with his desire to eat like he use to, may be driving Rex insane.
Which is why people shouldn't be shocked if Tanny is fired very, very soon. Rex might want to start looking for another place of work himself.
Your lips to God's ears. Yes, I think Tanny would be wise to consult a realtor and a relocation specialist ASAP.
I didn't think Tanny gave a bad interview with Francesca last week. When you have a jackass like Francesca on the other end of the phone who you know thinks horribly about your organization you are in a no win situation from the start. Fatcesca likes to pick out 1 or 2 words and stretch the meaning of what's being said. All I took from Tannenbaums interview was that the Jets (at the time) are the 3-6 and are not happy with that at all. And they shouldn't be. Bottom line with Tannenbaum and Rex is there idiots when the team is losing but there smart when the team is winning. If the Jets were 8-3 coming off a great win against the Patriots and Rex said Tebow could play with injured ribs would this really be a story? Of course not.
Agree Fatcesa's the dick of dicks. He'll pitch softballs to a child molester like L. Taylor but will look to screw Tanny. That being said, Tanny was a FOOL to argue that we were just "1 or 2 plays away" from winning a few games. As Fatty pointed out, Jets were blown out in 4 games this year. Tanny would have been better off to say that everyone's job's on the line here and everyone needs to perform better. He made it so easy for Fatty by trying so spin a TERRIBLE roster and season into something it isn't.
Wow how far we have fallen, We were the toast of the town two years ago , Now Rex apparently needs to check himself into a psych ward what a mess
There's only one explanation. And that explanation involves three little letters. Three little letters are almost ban worthy and haven't been uttered around these parts in a couple of years.
Being as PR conscious as Woody is, this is very damaging to say the least. The perverbial "last straw" will come with the empty sections at Met Life stadium to end the season on. Woody is all about the back pages, the swag sales and the PSL's. He's the owner of the "we're in the media business" quote and put Romney's election ahead of the progress of his multimillion dollar hobby. You'd better believe Woody is taking all of this in. That he had nothing to say to the media leaving the stadium spoke volumes. That "Fireman Ed", the defacto Mascot of the NYJ's left the stadium very early coupled with Sanchez's buttfest has most likely started to clock ticking on the FO and the CS. As both have contracts that run thru 2014, you'd think they would be safe but Mangini found out the hard way that when Woody Johnson gets pissed, shit happens suddenly.
I agree that Tanny did use a terrible choice of words in explaining some of the losses. I'm not a Tannenbaum supporter by any means as I believe he has to take blame for the lack of talent on this roster, it's just obvious going on Francescas show can only hurt and not help you. Very few Jets in the post Mangini era go on that show and come out looking better then they did before they went on. As far as Rex goes I mean, the guy always says something stupid. It's just going to get questioned more when things are going bad, especially when he is loyal to a fault to a lot of the players on his team. With Re
Fatcessa is a jackass without a doubt & I hate his radio program. However, Fatcesa came across as the far superior mind in that interview with Tanny & asked some really solid, direct questions. Tanny just danced around, changed the topic or repeated the same catch phrases again & again.
Something else. I don't pretend to knew the economics of an nfl franchise, but I have to believe that as much debt as woody has tied up in Met Life, the no shows that are going to start piling up over the next 3 home games are going to put a huge dent in concessions and merch sales on game days. He's going to take notice of that posthaste.
