Toby Gerhart to hold private workout with Jets. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=5730
sweet....he could end up being "2nd round gold" for us.....provided that nobody tells Rex he's white.
I'd love Gerhart. Imagine him pounding defenses early, and then think how much betterthat would continue to make Greene.
That's the only way it would work to draft him, but we'd need a 2nd rounder. He may not last to our 2nd. San Diego is also working him out, and if Houston takes Mathews, Gerhart would be a logical choice for them in the 2nd.
I think it's obvious now that Ryan Mathews is the most complete back in this class. Prospects like Blount, Gerhart, and Dixon have better size and power.
Some Ben Tate for you, (Who reminds me of our very own Shonn Green). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfBkonPBFGY If I have one problem with Gerhart its that he runs too high and will take alot of big hits. The kid is a fighter though.
Jets like Gerhart at fullback? Per ESPN Insider: The jury still seems to be out on Toby Gerhart's NFL prospects. He was quite a player in college -- finishing second in the Heisman Trophy voting -- but the landscape is littered with former collegiate stars who failed to catch on at the highest level. Gerhart does not project to being a first- or possibly even second-round pick this April, but it is believed he will be taken at some point in Round 3 or later. One team that's shown a bit of interest thus far is the New York Jets. According to a report from the National Football Post, Jets RB coach Anthony Lynn put Gerhart through a private workout at Stanford, but according to Rich Cimini of the New York Daily News, the team sees Toby as a fullback in the NFL. The team's current offense didn't make use of incumbent Tony Richardson very much last season, and we're not sure where the carries will come from, given the presence of Shonn Greene, LaDainian Tomlinson and Leon Washington.
If this is true then I really hope the Jets do not draft him. I can't wait until next year's draft when people are asking if Sam McGuffie can handle putting on the weight he would need to play fullback.
Agreed. What a waste that would be. With Keels killing any chance Leon has of leaving this team peacefully this season, I doubt we draft a RB that high anyway. I'd look for a mid to late rounder at this point for Leon's inevitable departure next season unless a miracle happens.
The article says according to Rich Cimini, Gerhart is being looked at as a fullback. Cimini is an idiot.
