...Oakland Raiders vs New York Jets will be on NFL Replay tonight at 9:30pm. Let's see if like Mangini, I can see the bright spots that will make me proud of these guys.
I didn't like watching it the first time. The Vikings-Bears game is the only Week 7 game worth watching on NFL Replay.
seriously, why bother? So I can watch the jets crack good runs and never take advantage of that in the passing game? So I can watch as the PA pass apparently is a foriegn object to the jets offense? Seriously. Sure, there were some bad performances out there, but it was very apparent the offensive play calling was one those bad performances. ANd, it's been poor most of the year.
I just turned it off. I watched it up to when regulation was over. I can't watch it anymore because I'm getting excited again like as if this replay is gonna give me a different score. I just couldn't. One thing I did notice though, was Brad Smith was shoe-string tackle away from closing this game out with a touchdown with :30 seconds left in the game.
I think maybe they needed longer spikes for that surface. If Cotch didn't fall down in the endzone he almost surely has a TD. Instead it was an INT. fucker.
The only reason to rewatch this game is as a drinking game. Take a shot for every Jets miscue, misread, and mistake. I guarantee you'll be drunk by halftime. I can't remember the last time so many different players fucked up the game. If I were Thomas Jones, nobody would dare come near me this week without getting his head bitten off.
I watched the first 3 mins....and I went back, slo motion, on each play we ran in the "spread" formation to start the game. And it really is our playbook...If you do the same, you will notice that 2 WR ran 5yd outs to each side of the field. The 3WR ran a 10yd in pattern, the slot ran a crossing route 6yds, and TE (which we hit for 5 throws in a row I think?) ran a seam route about 8yds, and sat behind the LB coverage. And I'm not exaggerating. I wasn't in Oakland, and didn't have a birds eye view of the game. So I can't speak for the routes our WR ran at other times. But I'm just saying that if you're running an empty backfield, 5 wideouts, there is no reason that all 5 should be visable on your TV screen all at the same time. I think during the game I was too busy cursing and yelling, but watching the replay really got me frustrated. And Brett was just as frustrated, having 5 receivers within a 20yd radius of each other.
^ See I didn't notice that. This is why I watch the games win or lose. You get a better look at some plays that u know are coming up and see where we went wrong or what we did right. One thing I did notice was how well Bryan Thomas contained the runs that were meant to go to the outside. That allowed Rhodes & Harris to make a play on those. On passing plays, they dropped back into coverage, so it looks like our D was really hell-bent on taking away those runs to the outside. It's probably why Pace and Thomas weren't really in a position to pressure the QB. Also, I think the Raiders were most successful running the ball in the direction of Kenyon Coleman. Anything straight up the middle or Ellis' side was pretty much stuffed at the LOS.
I always watch the games over whether we win or lose. Haven't re-watched this one yet but I have it recorded so I'll suffer through it again next week.
