Titans are making the right move here, Young has shown flashes of potential but has never really proven himself as a legit QB. Fisher is one of the best coaches in the game today. If it comes down to the QB or a coach like Fisher, unless that QB is Peyton, Brady, Rodgers, Rivers or Brees, its the coach.
Vince Young has the personality&leadership of an Ikea table... good for the Titans. I'm guessing they'll look for a QB to groom behind another year of Collins.
very surprised, I honestly thought that they would have chosen Young over Fisher. I figured Fisher had been around so long that they would decide it was time to move on from a guy who has never won them a title. Granted Young isnt the answer at QB so this is the right choice, I just am surprised that the Titans did so.
Fisher's a solid coach... I'm not surprised they chose to keep him over a player that lacks maturity, has some mental issues, and is inconsistent. The Titans have had some good runs, and caught some bad breaks along the way. I like that they are bucking the trend of firing a guy. Providing they still feels he's the guy, and not just mailing it season after season, and has the values and leadership they are looking for, no real reason to fire him.
very surprised indeed. The way Bud Adams was humping Vince Young's leg...I thought for sure Fisher was gone. But having said that, the Titans are making the right decision. Young has maturity issues. Problem is, Kerry Collins isn't the answer either. This decision will set the Titans back.
I didn't remember Adams having a hard-on for Young, but if so, that may have actually worked in Fisher's favor. I mean, once you get to a point with a lot of games behind you, and you realize that you are backing the wrong horse, it may be hard to blame the coach if you pushed him to be married to the deal.
I believe it was Adams who pushed for VY at the draft.....and I can see how he'd have a hard time getting rid of Young...all the guy does is win, despite Young being a flighty retard.
Well the Titans are taking a step back next year either way. you can't fire Jeff Fisher your coach of 16 seasons, and not take a step back. You can get rid of the best QB on your roster (and not have a top 5 pick) with no viable replacement and expect to not be set back. The titans have to choose either or, and since both decisions are going to set them back, dumping the QB thats definately not the answer in favor of a coach that could be the answer is the right move, even if it does set them back.
I bet if Fisher doesn't finish the 2011 regular season with a playoff berth.....Adams will fire him. Just a hunch, but I don't think it was an easy decision for Adams to let go of VY.
isn't next year fishers last under contract? I want to say that was something I heard ESPN report, so it's not the most reliable information. But you are right, if Fisher doesnt turn this around into a very exciting team next year, Fisher would likely be out after forcing adams to get rid of his hand-picked QB....
