TIMELINE: NEW DETAILS REVEALED ABOUT THE NIGHT LONG ISLAND DOCTOR DIED AFTER FOUND IN CHELSEA APARTMENT BUILDING

    CHELSEA, N.Y. (WABC) --
New details are emerging Monday into the events leading up to the death of a Long Island doctor who was found in the doorway of a Chelsea apartment building early Sunday morning. Sources close to the investigation say that her death does not seem to be a criminal act. It's believed that she died of a drug overdose.

Kiersten Cerveny, 38, of Manhasset, had a seemingly picture-perfect life. She was married with children, they lived in a house in Manhasset and she had a dermatology practice in Williston Park. But that all changed after police said she had a night out on the town in Manhattan before she was found unresponsive hours later. Her autopsy came back inconclusive pending further studies, including the toxicology, leaving detectives to continue to piece together the details to determine what exactly happened to her.

Here's a timeline of what we know so far about her night, according to NYPD investigators:

    6:30 p.m. Saturday
Police said Cerveny went out with friends to a hotel.

Later Saturday night (time not released)
Cerveny and her friends moved to a bar on the Lower East Side. Friends told detectives there was alcohol and cocaine use.

    2 a.m. Sunday
Cerveny met up at the bar with a 51-year-old man she knew from Facebook who produces TV shows.

    Between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. Sunday
Cerveny left her friends, getting into a cab with the 51-year-old man.

    4:25 a.m. Sunday
Cerveny and the 51-year-old man arrive at the cab driver's home on West 16th Street between 7th Avenue and 8th Avenue. Surveillance video shows them walking into the building.

Later in the morning (time not released)
Cerveny becomes incapacitated and was carried back down the stairs by the two men. The men place her in the lobby of the building.

    8:32 a.m. Sunday
Police said the 51-year-old man called 911 and stated there was an unconscious woman in the lobby at 221 West 16th Street.

Police arrived and were directed to the correct address, 223 West 16th Street. The 911 caller was not there, surveillance cameras caught both him and the taxi driver walking away from the building before officers arrived.

The victim was alive but unresponsive, police said.

A delivery worker told Eyewitness News he saw a man flagging down the ambulance to take away a woman who he says was half naked.

"They took and she was naked from here to up and was without shoes," he said.

She was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital Annex, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

    OTHER NEW CASE DETAILS

The 51-year-old man called 911 again and agreed to voluntarily speak to detectives. Detectives interviewed him and Cerveny's husband. They were both released without any charges filed.

Detectives are still looking to talk with the 60-year-old taxi driver to get his side of the story. They are viewing surveillance video and obtained a search warrant for his apartment.

The woman was not robbed, according to police.

A respected Long Island doctor and mother of three who went out partying with her girlfriends in the city was found dead in the doorway of a Chelsea apartment building Sunday morning — the possible victim of a murder or drug-related tragedy, law enforcement sources said.

Kiersten Rickenbach Cerveny, 38, a dermatologist from Manhasset, was found with bruises around her neck, her body sprawled across the front entry to a five-floor walk-up on West 16th Street, at around 8:30 a.m., the sources said. It was unclear what brought her to the building.

“Her feet were holding the front door open, and her head was by the corner of the door frame,” an EMT on the scene told The Post.

Cerveny, a former pageant queen from New Jersey, lived with her husband, Andrew, and their three young children in a million-dollar home.

But she hid a dark secret, a law enforcement source said.

“Word is that she likes to do drugs,” the source said.

Surveillance video from inside the building shows two men carrying Cerveny down the stairs and into the lobby, one holding her upper body, the other her legs, sources said.

It’s not clear when they dumped her in the doorway, but both were caught on a separate camera leaving the building around 8 a.m., sources said.

One of the men was questioned by cops but released shortly afterward without being charged, according to a law enforcement source.

Cerveny had told her husband, a fellow dermatologist, that she was headed out Saturday for an innocent night on the town, sources said. Police spoke to him at the 10th Precinct station house Sunday, but investigators believe he had nothing to do with her death.

“The husband said she was going out with some friends, and she did go out,” a source said.

She bar-hopped around the Lower East Side, drinking heavily and getting high, possibly on coke, sources said, noting detectives got details of the wild night from the pals she was with.

Cerveny was missing her underwear when found; her panties were later discovered stashed in her purse, the sources said.

The marks around her neck were caused by a previous medical procedure, they added. Investigators were awaiting the results of an autopsy Monday.

A man described by sources as “upset” called 911 to report an unresponsive woman, and was still at the building waiting for help when an ambulance arrived, sources said.

But as soon as first responders began asking questions, he fled — only to call 911 back later to ask whether Cerveny had survived, the sources added.

Cerveny was taken to the Lenox Health medical complex in Greenwich Village, where she was pronounced dead.

News of her death shocked family members. Her father, Robert Rickenbach, told The Post by phone that he was “not doing well” before hanging up.

Her cousin, Cory Festa, of Montclair, NJ, described Cerveny as a loving mother.

Million dollar home in Manhassett is a starter home or a fixer upper.

Weird that they would report that.

Whatever else happened, this is the part that you have to focus on.

She meets up with somebody who is an online acquaintance and they hail a cab and wind up at the cabbie's building? Something not right there.

I guess because she doesn't look like the typical druggie. She was a "smart" doctor with a family at home. 38 and living a double life taking coke and hanging with fb "friends". Reading the story her family must be embarrassed.
But the ones who lost here the most are the kids. They'll grow up learning what really happened to mommy..

I hate when they pull this card in the media. There's no such thing as "the typical druggie" in my experience. Drug use comes from all walks of life and it is not synonymous with any IQ, education, social class, etc. We do ourselves a disservice when we think a pretty female dermatologist and wife/mother, can't have a drug problem.

she wasn't living "a double life" so much as she was living her own life which happened to be as a functioning drug user. this is a tragedy on many levels.

If these guys had dropped off at the hospital, rather than a doorway, she may have lived.

They can and should be charged whether they murdered her or not. They could have helped her more.
