The J E T S can still get the FIFTH seed and get to play Houston in wildcard round. Root for Denver to lose and KC to win the Division.
With a win against the Bills next week and a Denver loss, the Jets would be the 5th seed in the AFC; the Chiefs would win the divison and we own the tiebreak over the Broncos. We still should be rooting for the Bengals.
If Cincy beats Denver it is correct that we would move into the 5 seed. The Chiefs would only move to the 3 seed and Denver would move to the 6 seed If Denver beats Cincy they would move to the 2nd, Cincy would move to 3 and we would stay at 6 Back to Cincy winning... We have to win next week no matter what, cannot clinch this weekend. A loss to Buffalo and a Pitt win and a DEN win eliminates us.
I'm rooting against DEN because (might sound weird) I really don't want NBC to flex NYJ-BUF to Sunday night. Maybe if Denver loses they'll think twice.
It might be a fait accompli at this point anyway. They love the guaranteed win and you're in games and right now the Jets have a guaranteed win-and-in game, not to mention the NY market not to mention the Rex storyline...then again come to think of it if other results go our way earlier the Jets might be in already before 8:30, so they might just go with Vikes-Packers.
I don't think the triangle has changed. A loss by Denver, KC, or Pitt is always good for us. The exception is once we beat the Bills we don't care what Pitt does anymore.
