Feely looked money, baby, MONEY yesterday. I'm not going to annoint him as the best kicker in the league, but I think it's fair to say he's AS GOOD as Mike Nugent. Fair?

The thing is, I don't know if we should cut Nuge. I feel like having a second kicker on the roster lights a fire under the first kicker's ass. Look at the Tynes/Carney situation with the Giants.

Then again, sure wouldn't mind having a third running back in a game like Sunday's against the Rams.

There is no way the Jets cut Nuuuuuuge! I cant believe people consistently call for his head. He is a damn good kicker. Not worth a second round pick but then again no kickers are. Feely has filled in great but Nugent is our kicker,

How soon we forget the field goals Feeley missed against the Bills, Chiefs and Patriots.

i dont understand feely. yesterday he looked like he could kick it from anywhere. a few weeks ago i was worried when he lined up for extra points. if he can put together a few games in a row i might start to feel better about him.

I certainly haven't forgotten them, nor have I forgotten the many chip shots Mike Nugent has missed.

Unfortunately for Feely, now that Nuge is healthy, he won't get that same kind of respect.

He made 4 FG's in a completely meaningless game. He has missed some very easy kicks, and several important ones.

Nugent is the long-term solution at kicker. If you can juggle the roster for the rest of the year while keeping both, I'm all for it. Dropping Nugent would be insane.

the game wasn't meaningless every win counts the same.

the game was out of hand yes, and we didnt need those field goals.i think all those kicks had to come with some type of pressure for feely. he knows nugent is getting healthy and if he had put up a stinker yesterday he could have been cut this morining. instead he gets to stay for another week.

I agree. People are totally overreacting to the missed kicks in the Washington pre-season game and the Miami game (on the play in which he injured himself). Nugent has been a solid kicker for us. Nowhere near as good as hyped but overall very solid.

Feely missed a short field goal against New England in his first week that would have ultimately kept his team within one score, a makeable kick against Oakland that would have changed the complexion of the game, and another short one against Buffalo that left things closer than they needed to be. He also kicked 4 field goals against the lowly Rams, three of them coming after the Jets were three scores up. You can decide for yourself which of those facts is more important.

I wish Nugent could absorb Feely and evolve into a super kicker called Omega Nugent

Can Nugent kick off into the endzone?

    Case closed.

    Yes he can...

It doesn't matter what kicker we have. All kickers except A. Vinatery will miss some important kicks. So far I'd say that Feeley and Nuge are pretty much the same in that category.
