There are a bunch of names out there and I think a lot of people get stuck on Schultz and only Schultz. I would like to sign him as well, but it is quite possible we aren't able to land him.

I personally have my eyes on David Njoku from the Browns. He is highly athletic and would be a great fit for the scheme. People mistake him as a 1 dimensional Tight End and that isn't true. He is a good blocker as well and still in his prime.

Which TEs have your eye as we get closer and closer to Free Agency?

I personally would use FA to attack Safety position because there should be a good amount of quality players there and depth for other positions. And our offense is so young, I would want to draft to a TE to learn and grow with Wilson. And just resign Kroft. We have a good amount of money, but it really goes fast when you have this many picks and have to resign some of your own guys.

I'm with you on Njoku in FA. Good all around player with experience in a similar scheme with Stefanski. Then I'd draft another guy.

I'm kind of locked in on Schultz camp but if we can do Njoku and Mcbride or Renner I'm happy.

O.J. Howard would be a good get. Kinda got buried in Tampa but I think he could play

Yes, he is one that I didn't mention and I would also like the upside of that move.

Sign one free-agent tight end and draft another one.

I feel like there must be something wrong with this guy that we haven't been privy to from the outside. On paper he's legitimately one of the most athletic TE's ever but he's been in the league for 5 years and has never had more than 565 receiving yards in a season, and in that season his numbers were inflated because he had a 75 yard catch. That season was also his 2nd year and he's had less receiving yards than the previous year in every season since.

I feel like he could be a Mims-type where everyone thinks he should be great based on measurables but he's just insanely lazy or dumb.

Could be, we’re not privy to that info, my guess is his contract will reflect his rep in the league wherever he lands

He has vastly underperformed and I wouldn’t pay what it would take to even see if he would get better at this point tbh. With his skill set and athleticism he should have better numbers for sure!

If we can't get Njoku, I'd sign up for more budget friendly Gesicki or Everett. Wouldn't be opposed to drafting an option in the middle rounds as a supplement.

Also, with the right amount of organizational belief and hard work, Yeboah might still become something. He's young, physically gifted, and showed a little chemistry w/ Wilson last TC.

    1. Dalton Schultz
    2. Dalton Schultz
    3. Dalton Schultz

As long we end up with one of those guys and draft either McBride, Ruckert, Kolar, etc. then I'm happy.

Kroft sucks. IMO one of the last things we should do is re-sign that JAG. We can sign a FA TE and S. It doesn't have to be one or the other. TE is an extremely important position in this offense and for many offenses these days. Not only is he another blocker on running plays and WR screens, but also on other passing routes. He is a safety valve for the QB. He can create mismatches against DBs down the seam. The Jets need a starting caliber TE NOW. Rookies can take time to develop, but the reality is that we need to sign a starting caliber TE in FA AND draft at least one TE if not two. Griffin should be cut and Kroft not re-signed. Wesco is a marginal NFL player. If we have to keep him one more season, ok, because he's a decent blocker, but ideally, he would be traded/cut as well, and the Jets would sign a TE in FA and draft two TEs to totally remake the position and create an NFL level TE corps. They can keep Yeboah for another year, maybe two and give him a chance to develop.

If what I have read is accurate, have zero interest in either Gesicki (not a scheme fit). IMO Everett doesn't have good hands, and I don't want any more players on the Jets that are going to drop passes very often. I've seen Everett drop passes at key points in games, so have zero interest in him as well. At least Howard is a good blocker. I want one of Schultz, Njoku, Tyler Conklin (if he hits FA), Uzomah, and Tonyan. Failing that, OJ Howard, or a Durham Smythe another Miami TE who had a good season this past season.

IMO we need to sign a TE in FA and draft at least one, if not two TEs. IF we do that then we can have a pretty good, if not very good, TE corps, depending upon whom we sign and whom we draft. IMO signing either Schultz or Njoku and drafting either McBride or Ruckert and Ferguson would be ideal. That would give us a topflight TE corps. Yeboah would be the 4th TE.

nah, hes good, his numbers were fine for a young emerging TE before Tampa started their old folks home and brought in Brady & Gronk, in addition to an achilles injury

Howard had 459 yards and 1 TD the season before Brady got there, his third full season in the league.

Does that not suggest he was used poorly?

I mean we that kind of shit at the Jets all the time, I'm sure it must happen at other teams as well.

Not that I am big on signing Howard, I would if the price was right and Njoku was gone, I doubt Shultz would come to the Jets even if we offered a massive man bag full of $$$$$$$$
