Since this forum is about promoting players you love, regardless of how the help the Jets, I decided to throw my guy's hat in the ring! He was a Heisman winner, a 2 time champion, went undefeated, almost won a third title, and was a top 10 draft pick....I think his body of work speaks for itself and I think he should be given a chance to start for the Jets! - He finished his college career with 807 completions on 1,245 attempts (64.8% completion percentage) for 10,693 yards and 99 touchdowns with just 23 interceptions. He is ____'s all-time leader in career touchdown passes and completion percentage, and is second at ___ behind _____ in completions and yardage. He averaged nearly 8.6 yards per attempt, and averaged only one interception every 54 attempts. He was 37–2 as a starter. - was never given a real chance, his team was fixated on their Hall of Fame QB! I am convinced that his former coach never really wanted him to run his scheme (my guy is a play action guy, not a shotgun spread guy), and they purposely didnt build the offense around him! It wasn't fair! By the way, my guys team actually went TO THE SUPERBOWL, so not only did he win more in college and go undefeated in college, but he was a leader who helped his team make the superbowl!!! Given the facts, I feel that the Jets should cut ties with Sanchez and Tebow, and make Houston a tasty offer for MATT LEINART!!! Any argument you make I will use collegiate stats and his teams winning percentage as proof that I am right, so don't bother!
I'm not sure Houston would let him go. He's pretty good. Houston seemed really disappointed when he went down with injury last year, as if they'd really found a player they thought could step in for Schaub. There are some questions about his arm strength, though.
I just checked and Houston released him a couple of weeks ago. So there would be no trade -- he'll just be signed by someone. Guy's been riddled with injury. Hate to see him go out like that.
Here are my thoughts . Leinart has a losing record in the NFL as a starting QB , Sanchez and Tebow do not . Leinart has a lower NFL career QB rating than Sanchez and a lower rating than Tebow Using any measurement you wish ( NFL only) wins or stats , he would be a severe downgrade from Sanchez or Tebow
There's an argument to be made for using college stats when talking about a rookie or someone who's seen only limited action. At this point, Tebow shouldn't be considered to be in that cohort.
Yes but Ken Wozenhunt didn't know how to run Leinarts offense! He never brought the USC offense and so he never got a fair shake. My guess is Ken Wozenhunt was purposely trying to lose so that he wouldn't be outshined by Leinart, and so he never ran play action. In fact, supposed Leinart had to teach the Cards his USC playbook!
Actually, they just didn't get along very well at all. Wisenhunt just flat out cut him after a particularly brutal encounter.
Make all the parrallel examples you want, you won't get away from : A. Leinart lost more than Tebow in the NFL b. He is actually an even worse passer. Also Leinart had 17 Tds in 31 career Starts . Tebow has 32 Tds in 16 starts and small appearances in 7 other games. Tebow measured by any measurement in the NFL blows Leinart out of the water, so your comparison is silly, again search for a better example.
Wozenhut was just trying to save face. The bottom line is Leinart is a big time winner (went to a SUPERBOWL) and also a multi champion. He just needs to be used right! Hopefully Bum Phillips understands that in Houston.
NFL measurements are meaningless! I mean if you went by those Tim Tebow, a great champion, would have been the worst QB in football last year! Leinart goes BEYOND stats and he inspires his teammates!
Ok so if we bring him in we should probably try to bring in Lane Kiffin so we can run Leinarts offense. It's not fair to ask him to learn Sopranos offense when he is one of the best USC QBs ever.
The only fools are the ones in Ken Wuzonoffs staff who purposely ran "the spread" bc they were jealous of Leinarts success at UCLA!
Setting aside April fools...Incorrect , 6 other QBs had worse QB ratings than Tebow , he was not the worse . Also when you had 700+ rushing yards ( including post season ) he would actually be higher up on the list. There is also no proof that Leinart inspires team mates at the NFL level , however there are many quotes from team mates about Tebow Your trying to be funny but your not stating any correct facts . Although it's a funny April fools when viewed that way .
Tebows QBR was the worst, but he is a winner though. What I'm saying is that Leinart is a BIGGER winner! And the proof is there for you me and jermaine dupri!
Awesome man, glad you took a break from your nightly golden showers to share this with us. I for one am convinced. I'm all in.
Guys please don't be mean, Tim wouldn't say such things. Besides, I think I have fallen for a better QB!!!!!!!! He has a career completion percentage over 57 (higher than Tim) a rating nearly identical to Tim (73), he runs to the tune of about 5 ypc (in a traditional offense too!), is 30-17 as a starter, AND went UNDEFEATED and won a national title. Guys, we need to look at Vince Young!!!!!
