It looks like the Panther's monster DT may be available. Do you think he fits the NT role with the Jets? Should we go after him?
If someone is available or rumored to be available the Jets are required to go after them. Didn't you know thats a rule?
How old is Jenkins? Im not sure, it seems like he's been in the game for a while now. Also, I believe the Panthers are a 4-3 defensive unit, we run the 3-4, how would he do as a NT without another big body playing right next to him? All in all, if we can get him, rotate him with Robertson and Pouha, It may not be that bad of an idea to upgrade our D-Line before the draft
Kris Jenkins would probably work well as a 3-4 nose tackle in a rotation, but he is best fitted for the 4-3.
Last year I'm sure I said no. This year he's older and has a less-than-productive year under his belt. I still say no.
I'd say it's less about whether Kris Jenkins fits the scheme than it is about our CS's ability to coach him into it.
So this is the second offseason in a row he'll be available in by trade...I haven't seen enough (any) Panthers game...but no one seems to be impressed by his play the past couple years...none of this is a good sign for him.
He's only 28 and he's 330 pounds. He badly needs a change of scenery. He performs better than average in his sleep. I don't think he'd respond well to our system, but if he's going to be given away, he'd be worthwhile. He's extremely strong and at his best, he always drew a double team. -X-
Jenkins is a lankier, slightly less powerful version of D rob. He's worth a look at 34 DE..but not as an NT.
Well, he is actually somwhere around 400 pounds. His ideal playing weight is 331, but he's been out of shape for quite some time. I don't think he's a fit here as a person. -X-
Kris Jenkins redefines the word "injury-prone." If the incomparable Dan Morgan weren't on the same team, Jenkins would draw headlines as the most injury-prone player in the NFL. Stay away from this man.
