I would like to know how everyone felt about us not getting Cutler. My dream draft would have been trading down a bit, and taking him. I also heard about a potential deal with the Ravens to get their pick if Ngata was off the board. He is the QB I really wanted, and the one player I wanted to see in a Jets uniform more than anyone. I was more upset about taking Ferg because I wanted to trade down, not because I wanted Leinart.

I kind of feel like the Jets were the team who was linked to Cutler- we seemed to show the most interest, and I think we are part of the reason why his stock went so high. I just feel like he was OUR guy, and I am going to hate seeing him play for another team. If Clemons is good, then i won't mind as much, but I really like Cutler.

    Anyone else feel this way?

Not really. The Jets wanted Clemens badly enough to trade up to get him him in the 2nd round. I think he was a guy they were looking at for some time.

Well, by that logic, they didn't really want him because they traded down first... Did they not want AJ Hawk because they took Anthony Schlegal??? I gaurentee Clemons was NOT ranked higher than Cutler on their board.

I think with any of these situations you're just speculating so much. Clemens is better than most people give him credit for. He just doesn't have the same arm as cutler, but it was considered the second best in the draft.

I say, let's wait and see. Clemens might end up being the second coming of Brett Favre. Who knows? That's why it's called speculation...

Well, that wasn't the question. I'm sure Clemons will be fine, but at the time Cutler was picked- I felt like shit. I wanted him bad- and judging by the hundreds of Cutler Avitars I saw before the draft, I am sure planty of others on here did too.

And trading down is not speculating- it was reported pre-draft that the Saints, jets, and bills all tried to trade down.

I didn't say he was ranked higher. I simply said that he was considered a part of the FO strategy that they settled on which included picking up a QB that they liked in the 2nd round. They obviously felt that Clemens was a better VALUE for the Jets in the 2nd round than Cutler was in the 1st round. They had a chance to trade up for both Cutler and Leinart, and didn't pull the trigger on either.

Why, oh why, do we do this? It's over. There are guys we DID pick we can debate, not "we should have got Matt, or Jay, or Regie". We will face him. We will beat him. And with that logic I say that I am happy NOT drafting any player that this team can beat.

I really liked Cutler alot, but what the Jets did HAD to be done. We simply HAD to get two beast Olineman. Also the Jets did alot of moving around to get Kellen Clemens whom they clearly targeted. I knew as soon as we traded down thats who they were going after.

I still think Kellen Clemens can be a Drew Brees type of QB so I love the pick and I look foward to seeing him in the preseason.

Well, if it were up to the jets, they would have traded for them-- they tried desperatly to land the lions pick, and couldn't get it done-- offering the 29th and 35th pick for it. That right there shows me that they certainly had those 2 qb's MUCH higher on their board. Anyway, this thread isn't about Leinart or Clemons, this is about how everyone felt about not getting cutler.

If the Jets couldn't get the best QB in the draft (which was Leinart IMO), then I have no problem with them passing up on Cutler and attempting to fill other need positions AND drafting another QB, one they obviously liked, in the 2nd round.

Well, you don't HAVE TO DO THIS!! You could have, and should have avoided the thread if you didn't want to talk about Cutler. I didn't say anything negative about the other picks- I just wanted to know how everyone else felt about not getting Cutler, and how I think the Jets are a big reason why his stock went up. F yourself if you don't like the thread-- just avoid it then.

Happy, I think Kellen is a sleeper and there was no need to take cutler that high. Actually I would have been angry if any of those QB's were taken in the first by us. All im sayin is the draft is over, neither cutler nor Leinart is on our team and there is no point anymore of speculating. After all, thats all it is......speculation. In a few years you guys can come back and say "look how good Cutler/Leinart turned out, if only we had drafted him" but until then enough is enough. There is another thread stating all of Leinarts stats and saying he is better than the scouts report. Who gives a flying crap! Its over, now lets move on.

I hate not getting Cutler, I have our third rounders, and our 5-7th rounders.

However, I have no problems with Brick, Mangold, or Clemons.
