    ...he better show up.

After the Shonn Greene selection, Thomas Jones probably feels like he's close to losing his job.

Fantastic. Hopefully they still work something out that benefits both sides.

    Also from his twitter...

"I was with Lito Sheppard this weekend & he is really comfortable with the Jets. Lito is in great spirits and looking forward to a great 09."

I think what they thought here was: the first RB that gets back to practice will get more money because the Jet are going to make him an example over the other RB.

If that's what TJ's agent thinks, he's in for a rude awakening.

I'm glad he's headed back into camp. The sooner that happens, the sooner we can quit hearing about the increasingly absurd trade rumors. I was all about TJ for Edwards or Boldin, but TJ for Branch is the harbinger of quite a disturbing trend.

TJ will probably get a moderate extension in the next couple of weeks.

That's what I'm thinking too. Maybe give him some more money this season and less next season

That's the key right there. I'm just eager to see how they deal with him. In extending him, they'll need to deal with his number for next season, which likely means they'll push money forward to this year. If they can push some bonus money to this year, great. Otherwise, they could run into problems with the 30% rule. The one thing they can't afford to do is grant him a new deal entirely and accelerate $3 million of bonus money on top of it.

i hope greene is the real deal like i think he is. i wont mind him starting this year and going over 1000 yards. this way we can be our next martin and make a run and curtis' and barry's record.

im glad jones isnt being a bitch anymore. i really dont want to give him more money but i can see maybe taking some of the money he is going to make next year and giving more to him this year. he signed the contract for $20 million and he knew he probably wasnt going to be picked up for that fourth year so its is fault for accepting a contract that makes so little money in its third year.

I understand we're talking about an NFL contract and that I'm taking your statement out of context, but a $900,000 yearly salary is not a "little money".

Any one read any other twits by Rosenhaus? This one caught my eye:

Seriously, does this guy even understand how business is being handled on the other side of the table? No wonder every GM in the NFL hates this guy.

And to not be completely offtopic, I doubt anything will happen considering TJ's contract. I guess Rosenhaus just acknowleged that he has no leverage on the Jets and decided to give in. Now if TJ will be cut after next season, then Tanny might move some of the dead money from 2010 into this year.

Perception is more important than reality. Rosenhaus is a smart guy, he knows what he's doing.

I understand that and realise that Rosenhaus is probably the best at what he does, but that line to me is just full of ignorance and arrogance, be it some kind of propaganda or not.
