Where would he go? Player or draft picks? From the same article... Oh dear  http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/2009/06/sunday-at-the-post-7/
This wouldnt be a smart thing to do. From what im seeing right now, Greene is sorta fragile. So you can never had too many Running Backs
greene supposedly has a knee issue. lets be careful here not to trade away the best every down rb on the roster.
yeah y'all should keep him. never know if last season was a fluke or if hes really stepped his game up...don't trade him for an underperforming wr(branch)
Ok, I'll play the other side.. Trade him. He still has some value, I think Greene/Washington are decent enough to put together a good running game and I think we might have some buyers for TJ. I'd rather deal him now, then a couple of years later when we only get a 5th rounder. Who knows, Cleveland might deal us Edwards if the price is right.
I said it in Feb....I said it in April...and I'll say it again. TJones is a great running back...but he plays a position that is easily replaceable. If the Jets can get fair market value for him.....then Tanny should pull the trigger, IMO.
I can't think of a single player on this team that I wouldn't be willing to trade...IF...the offer was one that we simply COULDN'T refuse. As of right now, I have a VERY HIGH price on TJ so any trade for him would have to totally blow me out of the water.
This Jone's last year as a Jet. So either trade him now and get something.......or let him play out 09 and then the Jets cut him and get ZERO!!
Yea I agree...Running back is by far the most expendable position on the offensive side of the ball...Jones is getting up there in age (he'll be 31 in august) and I think this is eerily similar to curtis martins best season...which was his last full one when he was 31 and rushed for almost 1700 yards...I like all fans then were of course always pulling for curtis and really believed he would play for another 5 years after that...but Rb's tend to age rather quickly once they hit their 30's...if the price is right it wouldnt be right for tannenbaum to pass...let TJ sign a new contract with his new team and move on...but ONLY IF the price is right
totally agree. hes value will never be higher then it is now. so i saw if the trade is fair do it. greene/washington should be fine. and we could always pick up a free agent like james or mccalister who are at this point in there career proven backups
If we are really going to be a run team this year to let Sanchez develop then we can't be trading away Jones. Greene has already had a injury this pre-season, we can't be taking chances, of course nobody knows how Jones will play next season, i believe he still has 2 years left in him though. Keep him around unless there is a deal that you just have to do.
+1...get rid of him while he still has value. Backs like Warrick Dunn, Rudi Johnson, Deuce McAllister, Edgerrin James, and DeShaun Foster are still available. This team will NOT have a feature back. A guy like DeShaun Foster would be perfect in a three back set with Greene and Washington.
