The guy hasn't made a cut or taken more than the OL has given him all year. Shonn and Leon make for a scary backfield with that OL. Everything changed when Shonn went down. Great year!
Why don't you watch more than one or two games and get back to us.. I guarantee you are going to be bashed for being an idiot in most of the posts in this thread.
I honestly think Thomas Jones is a product of a sick OL. He's over rated IMHO. If he gets touched, hes down.
Its a dumb post and incredibly shitty timing. TJ is a warrior who has played great for the Jets. Stupid post. Bad timing. This thread is a fail.
Jones was solid all year and had been nothing but solid since he got here. Seriously lets not play flavor of the week. Sorry he didn't run for 200 yards today but he isn't a slouch.
you are wrong. having watched every play of the season at least once, it is quite obvious that Jones is a product of the OL, and he creates nothing. His value is protecting the ball, and playing into the wear the defense down strategy.
Terrible post. We don't have to place blame after every loss. Sometimes teams just get beat by teams that are better than them.
Well it doesn't look like he'll return. He's thirty and all RBs who turn thirty decline. He was great while he lasted.
The beef here is an obvious one. TJ does have a tendency to go down relatively easy after the first contact, however, if he beats that contact, its good for an extra 6. I'll take that any day.
No, I agree with OP. I didnt wanna say it during the season because the man is a soldier and I didn't feel right about it, but he has to go. As much as I appreciate his 110% effort and the fact that he is very reliable, his style of running straight ahead and then diving just isn't effective. You can say he got 1400 yards etc... but a back like shonn greene could have had more, and in bigger spots. He needs to go. I can't watch that style of running again next year
I love TJ...but. There was one end run where he dove to where he thought he was gonna get tackled. Keeps him healthy...
TJ should be retained for short yardage and goal line. He's a legitimate veteran, but his days as a #1 are numbered. Greene/Leon will be our 1-2 punch. However, TJ still has a spot on the team.
The guy has been playing with a bum knee for three weeks now. Geez, people need to get real. No back who has 4 or 5 straight 10+ yard seasons is only a product of an offensive line.
Jones was great until the playoffs, but a guy can only take so much abuse. I think Greene/Leon is a great tandem, as long as Leon is healthy. The money he'd command would be better spent elsewhere.
There's a reason why the coaching staff goes to him in critical situations. He's not our most explosive back, but he's been consistent and solid his entire tenure as a Jet.
Why are people so desperate to blame someone? Did you suddenly forget jones went out there with a banged up knee that maybe would have made him sit had it been the regular season?
we did. no blame on TJ at all. He's simply not the answer and his numbers are inflated by a strong OL. Greene and Leon will create, while TJ has taken only what the OL has given. TJ not being the answer and Manning flat out beating us are not mutually exclusive.
Actually I'm not too wrong because I can already count 3 posts in here (myself included) that say this was a terrible thread. You are saying that we should get rid of a guy who got 1,400 yards this year and was 3rd in the league in rushing because of lack of production? Really? How does that make any sense. You watched a few playoff games and saw Shonn Greene run over defenses so you made a snap judgment.
Seems like the OP has been spoiled by shonne greene. Thomas has been the our most consistent player on offense. Sure he's not gonna bust out the 50+ yd gain every game, but hes dependable and durable
TJ is a tough one to figure out. He seems to do well with alot of carries and needs to stay in a rhythm over the course of multiple games. When he is in a rhythm he seems to compile alot of yards. If he isn't in a rhythm, then he goes down at first contact.
