Lot of similarities between this team and the 1998 AFC East Champs. That year we brought in Vinny Green Balls to backup Foley. Vinny was never envisioned the starter. It was a year to see what we had with Glenn Foley. In '98 we started 0-2 behind Glenn Foley, (a fav of mine). With Foley being benched in the third game. Vinny subsequently taking over and going 12-1 with the Jets blowing a 10 point lead at half to the eventual champion Denver Broncos.

This team has Fitz, who starts week 1. A big receiver in Marshal (keyshawn), and although Ivory has been with us for 3 years. He just looks different this year (Martin). Upper Decker (who is like some other white receiver we had that year) Who knows. Are we a 12 win team? Probably not, but it reminds me of 1998.

*Disclaimer* I am not comparing Chris Ivory to Curtis Martin and do not think he will make the hall of fame, I merely assert that he looks like a different back this year.

I don't see any similarities between Vinny and Fitzpatrick and Curtis and Ivory. They're like polar opposites in fact.

The team this is starting to remind me of is the 2006 team with Chad back after his second surgery and two good receivers in Coles and Cotchery. I think our defense is better this year and I'm hoping the offense can hold up its end of the bargain all season.

I don't want to be reminded of the past. Just win.
