Ok I know we just dropped a tough one to the Bills.. But Check this out CIN remaining sched: @ Indy - L @ Denver - W vs. Pitt - W - Barely escaping a heartbreaker Cincy can possibly drop 2 of 3 here. Indy is mad, Denver is clawing, and Pitt won't roll over for Cincy. I do think the bengals win 2 of 3 here though. This is where I think we have a big chance. JAX Remaining Sched: @ Tenn - W - Vince Young has been hot and the Jags suck on the road but I think they pull this one out even though the Titans are hot. vs NE - L - The Karma of JAX whopping Indy comes back to haunt them and NE wins in convincing fashion @ KC - L Both teams fighting for theyre playoff lives, JAX road record vs KC history at home results in a KC win despite Herm. This puts JAX at 9 - 7. Now in order for anything to be possible the jets obviously MUST take care of Minn. If the Jets can rebound to win this game, I think the Jets will gain momentum and run the table. That puts the jets at 10 - 6 and sneaks them into the playoffs reminiscint of 2002. Call me crazy and many of you will but I really think we're gonna get in this year one way or another
Im pretty sure this is how it breaks down. We HAVE to win our last 3 games. AND Either CIN, JAX, or NE lose 2-3, we are in.
yeah thats exactly what im saying...i really believe jax can drop 2 of 3...maybe cincy but more likely jax...its really not out of the question...if the jets lose this sunday forget it...but if they can win things are very much alive for this team...and this sunday will be a true test of this teams mental makeup...do they roll over for the rest of the year after a tough loss? or do they rebound in convincing fashion...
If the Jets are 9-7 (with the 7th loss being specifically to the Vikings) and the Bengals and Jaguars are 9-7, then the Jaguars would be eliminated. A loss to the Vikings does not necessarily doom the Jets. A loss to either the Dolphins or Raiders would be very damaging and would almost assuredly be the death knell.
i didnt know that... jets fans are so quick to get all depressive and stick theyre heads in the sand... the jets are still in the thick of the playoff hunt... people are already getting ready for the offseason...
Jets, Bengals, Jaguars all tied at 10-6? Jets lose out. Jets, Bengals, Jaguars all tied at 9-7 (with Jets 7th loss being to MIN)? Jaguars lose out. http://forums.theganggreen.com/showpost.php?p=381750&postcount=23
To clarify one thing- The 41-0 game does come into play, of course, because it is a conference loss for the Jets and a conference win for the Jaguars. But it doesn't come into play in the same manner it would come into play to break a simple 2-way tie between the Jags and Jets. The Jets would be done there. The first tiebreaker in a 2-way tie is head-to-head play. But in a three-way tie involving three teams from different divisions, first you would look for a head-to-head sweep (Jaguars do not play Bengals, so that is not an issue). Next up is conference record. Jets could be 7-5, Bengals could be 7-5, Jaguars could be 6-6.
I know its a long shot but if NE loses 2 of their last 3 and we win out, we would win the division by way of better conf record......it would go down to the 4th tie breaker!!! 1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs). split the two games 2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division. Both would be 4-2 in div. 3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games. Both would be 8-4 in common games 4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference. We would be 7-5 and NE would be 6-6 NE plays Houston, Tenn and Jacksonville!!!!very possible for them to lose to Tenn and Jacksonville. The Jacksonville and Tenn games are their last two and both are away!
The tie-breaker to knock out the Jaguars is highly unlikely. No way the Bengals and Jaguars both lose 2 games. Best shot for the Jets would be to go 10-6 and hope one of them loses 2 of their last 3.
Pittsburgh at Cincinnati on December 31 should be huge. There's a good chance the Bengals will not have clinched a playoff spot before this game. The Steelers and Bengals hate each other. The Steelers would love to end the Bengals season two years in a row (two times in one calendar year). It could be Bill Cowher's last game as the Steelers head coach. The Steelers have won 5 straight times in Cincinnati. It is possible that a Steelers win in a Week 17 game will help put the Jets in the playoffs for the second time in three years.
Sounds good. The first time the Steelers helped the Jets was sad. Buffalo couldn't even beat their 2nd and 3rd stringers.
I thought the Jets, although mathematically alive, were dead when they lost to Chicago in 2002 based on the remaining schedules of playoff hopefuls and the tiebreaker scenarios. It turned out the Jets made the playoffs. Their loss to Buffalo on Sunday was not nearly as bad as the Bears loss in 2002. I maintain that the Bengals and Jaguars have perilous games the next three weeks.
A big big boost was given to us by elderly Gary Anderson. Remember Minnesota came back to beat Miami and give us a chance. Anderson hit a 53 yarder as time expired. I swear, that kick was carried through the uprights on the wings of angels. I've never seen such an ugly kick go through.
Beating the vikings and dolphins will be extremely difficult. I hope we can pull it off. Well just have to see. If we come out winning those two games we deserve to be in the playoffs.
We really need 'Brick to be on top of his game for the Fish game. Their defense has really stepped it up in the past few weeks. On the other hand; we could always hope for Taylor and Thomas to overexert themselves and break their hips.
A little confused : If the Jets and the jaguars finish with the same record and confrence record then the jets loose out,(41-0 does come into play)If we finish with a better confrence record but the same overall record then yes the jets get the playoff spot. Right?
