Look, if he just made a couple of kinky videos that got out and embarrassed him and his wife, that's one thing. I would guess MT and WJ would laugh it off, too. But this is way beyond that. This is going to involve the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy, even if the incidents took place years ago. Whether the videos were deliberately or accidentally released, they were made public. And at one time, the Ryans were apparently listing themselves as into wife-swapping, threesomes, and other kinky/BSDM and other 'alternatives.' Look, I think this is more serious than a DWI. At least that's NORMAL if not something very dangerous and damaging to ones image. A dozen incidents a year happen in the NFL involving DWI or DUI or related transgressions. This Footgate is damaging in a way that embarrasses the club, Ryan, and Woody Johnson. And yes....it has to affect Ryan this week....this is worse than the Aliosi thing, which even if out of the ordinary, was at least football-related. This is the kind of thing that is definitely a distraction and can impact Rex's ability to coach on Sunday. Question: What do you think goes through Rex's mind when someone tells him that Goodell is having a 3-way with Tannenbaum and Woody ? Doesn't matter whether Goodell laughs it off or they are discussing possible fines/suspensions, just knowing that such a call is taking place or will take place is a huge weight on Rex's shoulders. I don't know why they made this crap public, Rex was either an Assistant Coach with the Ravens or the Defensive Coordinator. ANY affiliation with an NFL club for a guy aspiring to be a head coach should have told him this stuff couldn't go on in private, let alone public tapes and profiles. And while I'm not sure there's a defense for some of the more sordid stuff we've learned, I would have thought that Rex should have thought this day might happen and he should have had a better defense/public statement prepared. Even laughing it off would have been better, IMO -- but the stoic demeanor thing didn't work for me or the press corps. Uggg.....
Maybe you haven't heard. The league was asked about it and the official response is that they are treating this as a personal matter. That means no impending league discipline is hanging over Rex's head

I don't understand the big deal. I mean yes, it will certainly be distracting but there's nothing wrong with what he did. Unless I'm missing something videotaping feet is legal and has nothing to do with football or the league at all.

Interesting. Though I don't think it's a big thing. I actually said to a friend today that in this current climate of the NFL, the bigger story will most likley be what you are referring to. The story is going to be about wife swapping and the alternative lifestyle of swinging sites and posting videos on the Internet. I felt bad for Rex during the presser. As bas as Belichick's affair thing was -- I assume it was true, I never read much about it, guess it was some woman who worked for the Giants or Jets when he worked for those clubs ? -- it was normal: guy has an affair. I think Belichick got a divorce also or was separated so you could make an excuse for it. This is just bizzare though.
