Backed in as usual. Its one thing to control your destiny, its another to constantly have other teams lose so you can get in.

I give him credit for making it, but I would bet 100 dollars that he couldn't have coached this years Jets team to a 3 win record.

Herm is making good with a pretty talented team that he inherited, just like he had with the Jets. Give him 3 years, then see how good the Chiefs are with HIS stamp on them.

How many times did everything break just right for him on the Jets?

That kind of luck does not last long.

Also, using up his assets they way he has with Larry Johnson this year is a fast way to drive the Chiefs into the ground.

Herm has now taken over two teams with 9-7/10-6 talent in his first year and managed to go...

I really could care less about Herm one way or the other. I am just glad he is out of here. With that said, did you see the sports guy's comments about him? Because it mirrors yours!

    Here it is: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/061229

    CHIEFS (-2) over Jaguars
One of those games when you talk yourself into the Jags and then Sunday rolls around, you're down 10-0 in the second quarter, you're shaking your head, and you keep muttering, "My God, I have money on David Garrard on a 20-degree day in Arrowhead Stadium right now" before reenacting Scotty J's "I'm a f------ idiot!" routine from "Boogie Nights." Bad times.

(Random note: Congrats to Herm Edwards for turning Larry Johnson into the modern-day Earl Campbell. Four hundred carries in one season?!?!?!?!?!?!?? Did you know he's 27 carries away from breaking Jamal Anderson's record of 410? Here's how many carries Jamal had the following season: 19. I can't get over this. Let's say John Gibbons switched to a four-man rotation this spring and Roy Halladay cracked the 300-inning mark by Labor Day. Would an hour go by without somebody on "Baseball Tonight" or ESPN.com or Baseball Prospectus mentioning how absolutely insane this was? Meanwhile, we have Herm running poor LJ into the ground and everything's cool. Even if they end up making the playoffs, he's going to be a carcass by mid-January. Ridiculous. Why does this stuff make me so angry?)

Yep, that they will. Should be a fun game.

We will probably be on the road against InVinceable and the Titans.

Raise your hands if you thought Herm would make the playoffs again this year. Yeah, that's what I thought.

Yes, Jets will host KC in 2007. They will visit Tennessee in 2007.

I did, making it 4 times in 6 years doens't happen by accident especially taking over for 2 teams that had missed the playoffs 2 straight years before he got there.

They certainly had enough talent on that team to do it. Had to overcome some holes on the line early and the QB injury for a few weeks. But having LJ certainly helped them when they needed it. I am not completely surprised they made it, although I would not have guessed he'd do it in his 1st year there.

They don't have alot of talent on that team. yes they have a great RB and some gerat Gs but they lost their best OL and 2 OL starters, they lost their OC and they lost their AP FB. They don't have good Wrs and Gonzalaes is still good but not great anymore. We have alot more talent than KC.

I don't follow them all that closely so you could be right about them being less talented. However, I do believe our team had a lot more holes to fill at the beginning of the draft and going forward. And LJ is one hell of a player to have on your roster if you are going to lack talent.

Tannembaum did a great job w/ the draft hitting HRs w/ the 2 OL among others. That and Chad's health were keys to the season. I though abck in August we were alot mroe talented than people gave us credit for and I still believe that. We were a kick away from the AFC Title Game 2 years ago, last year we were injury ravaged but w/ a return to health we have returned to the playoffs.

The number of injuries we had last year were a big, big blow. I really felt that hurt us much more than anything else, but they had a lot of work to do on the OL this year and I can't believe they anchored it back down with a pair of rookies. Not only did Chad stay healthy and begin returning to form, we managed to get in the playoffs without a solid running game. The other big difference seems to be the coaching staffs ability to get the most out of the players it has.
