Okay, we are riding "the lose and we are done express" just now and after a few weeks of some grief we all find ourselves energised after our win at home last week. I am so pumed after thinking this was a nothing game. I was thinking back to 2002 when all seemed lost after a crap start and then Penny came in and we were the Titans of 2009, everyone was tipping us to ride the schedule; we were the team to beat. Fond memories. And then that unbelievable dropped pass by Wayne in Chicago...... all seemed down the pan before that fairytale in New York. Happy days. As long as we have heartbeat we are still alive. Go Jets!!!
That was a great second half of the season. The finale vs Green Bay and the playoff game vs Indy remains the highlight of the nine years we've had our current seats.
I rarely go to more than one game per season but I was lucky enough to be able to attend both of those games. Best Jets games I ever saw. I thought we were going to the superbowl after we trounced Indy.
That playoff game was one of the best times I had at Giants Stadium. We don't get to experience many blowouts, and in the playoffs no less.
Yeah, it seemed like once we saw NE kick that FG on the big screen to give us hope we got a burst of energy that extended down to the field and just lasted for the next couple of games. The Colts game--the flyover, the first pass to Richie Anderson that he broke for a long TD, everything from there was just a blur of greatness. I've been going to Jet games since 1976 and never saw two games together like that before or since. The run in 1998 was equally great but a lot of the big games were on the road down the end.
Why the hell not, until we lose again we are still in it. Win tonight and we are still alive, AND THE HOME OF THE JETS!
That was good too but we didn't seem to have as good a team and be on the same roll. We beat two bad teams at Miami and home to Oakland, which was great they could do it, but not the same as winning the division and a playoff game at home six days apart. The next closest thing would have probably been 1981 or 1985, wrapping up the playoffs at home and hosting the first round, except in both cases they lost the playoff game. I almost think the Jacksonville 1998 playoff game gets its own category, it's the only time we got a bye and we pretty much expected to win that game big.
Finishing the season against Indy & Cincinnati is going to be rough. If the Jets manage to beat both, I'd be shocked. If they manage to win out and obviously in the process beat both, I don't know how I'd react. It would probably be the most joyous day in recent Jets history.
I've been going since 88 w/ Pops of course, and that playoff game is ingrained in my head. I love it!!
Those GB and Indy games were two of my top 4 home game experiences, the others being the Jax playoff game and the Monday night miracle. They were all special, hard to pick a favorite.
The Indy game was definitely the best experience. Still THE most incredible home crowd I have ever seen - or heard. Was like a big party in the stands from the opening kickoff. I can remember sneaking in a giant plastic bottle of hot chocolate spiked with Kaluha and sharing it with people all around me.
