to this point. - Ryan is much, much brighter than I gave him credit for. He's a people person and he surrounds himself around talented ones. I thought the whole gimmick was stupid, but I do see the results and I guess it can even be seen as necessary. Awesome D... - Mark Sanchez is a high end talent. I hope no injury ever hits him. He is the key to our offensive future. His improvement at the end of the year was obvious, and to see a rookie lead this offense so well in the playoffs says everything about his talent. - Brian Schottenheimer is a high end OC. I do not want this guy leaving this team for a while. Nobody was more pumped on the sideline after that first down. - Greene is legit. First back to back 100 yarder for the Jets in the playoffs since McNeill. No Martin, a/the compiler. - This D is legit. Cannot wait to see when we add a high end big, young big man and a pass rusher. - Revis is a dominant, dominant CB/DB. - Kerry Rhodes will be a great and key player for this D. Many bash Rhodes for his...whatever that is...but the fact is he's another high end, versatile, big DB. If he is with this team in the long run, he will be what he wants to be. I think he knows that now. - Our locker room is clearly full of guys who "want it." It's hard to explain, but it's a high character locker room and that's a reflection of the coaching staff and the organization as a whole. - Mike Tannenbaum is arguably the best GM in Jets history already. He's put us in the position for decade long run. There's probably more. The vision we had for this team 3 years ago when we hired Mangini is still well in motion, and I think the right coach is here to do it. Sick win. I hope we win next week.
Disagree with you about Rhodes primarily because of your subsequent point. The guys around him "want it" but Rhodes has his head in the clouds.
Totally agree about Schott, let's make him the one of the highest payed OC's and lock him up for 3 more years!!!! Also agree about Tanny, he's made some unreal moves, Shonn Greene and the trade up for Mark Sanchez was totally stud!!!!
You can go one further with Revis. We are watching one of the greatest DBs in the history of the game being born here. He is nothing short of amazing.
revis is really the x factor of this team he eliminates an entire primary route by himself every play. our defense is really able to shine without all the tools it needs because of him.
And in zone I've seen him capable of keeping track of multiple routes. The guy just knows how to play his position while owning elite physical ability.
Darrelle Revis is the best cornerback that I have ever seen. Period. No one has ever excelled at all aspects of the position like he has, in my honest opinion.
And about Kerry, I've been just as hard on him as everyone else, but he remains a playmaker. Shit if he can just learn to play every down and stay focused on being an elite player...
Great post. I agree with Rhodes, He has yet to live up to his potential, and is high on himself, but I think that we have the right coach who is not afraid to call him out and bench him if necessary, rather then making him run laps. Hopefully Rex's arrival will be the turning point in Rhodes career!
I think he's back for now, but he still needs to work his tackiling, it's better, but it's not that great...he freezes at times. The hollywood aspect of him is probably too late to correct.
Ive been a huge shotty hater all season......but besides a few questionable play calls here and there, hes had a very solid playoff run. Hes really improved towards the latter portion of the season and into the playoffs......
