Solid drive, Geno picks up a blitz delivers a great screen pass for a 13 yard gain and first down, he's driven down the field and in a groove. Then they pull him and put only Ivory back there. WTF? I wonder if Ivory is going to run???? They did this all last year with Sanchez and I really thought it would have left town with Sparano. The wildcat killed several drives today, I've had it, if Geno is having a good drive, DO NOT pull him off the field for some momentum killing wildcat play. This shit did not work last year, and I don't want to see another year of this crap.
The Bucs' stout run D stifled several drives, not the wildcat. The Jets actually had some of their better runs out of that formation today. And its nothing like them pulling Sanchez & putting in Tebow last year. Geno never actually leaves the field, just splits out wide
Fuck the run in that spot, Geno led us down field, put the damn ball in his hands and let him put it in the endzone, this wildcat is ridiculous and completely ineffective and destroyed that drive and probably the game.
yeah wild cat was terrible, you know they just put it in there because they didn't trust Geno. That should change bny ext week
I'm not against the Wildcat against certain teams or situations but against the Bucs number 1 run defense was a giant mistake. Call it once or twice on short yardage plays
The wildcat was much better than our normal running game today. Give the Bucs credit they are a very good defense and they dominated our OL all day long.
I'm not against the WC when we snap it and the RB goes up the middle. IT seemed to be much more effective than normally running the ball up the middle.
Hopefully they use the wildcat once or twice a game. But I guess they used it to try to gain some type of rushing yards.
agreed! MM will gain more confidence in him! His playbook will be vastly different in a few weeks. I liked the style of Geno.
Nothing wrong with running it. They were trying to take some heat off Geno. Trying not to let a rookie QB throw the ball 50 times in his NFL debut is a good thing. It was obvious the standard running players weren't working so throw in a gadget play to change it up.
I'm all for a trick play here and there fake punt and all that but, the Wild Cat is like quick sand, it has to go.
I hope they don't bother with the wildcat very much against the Patriots. I'm still reserving judgment on it because Tampa had the #1 run D last year, but I'm not sure if it might still have some potential since it's not Tebow doing it.
Geno is not a runner by nature, but he does have speed and agility and showed that today. That being the case, I see no reason why a few designed QB runs wouldn't be more effective than the Wildcat is.
