I'm not an expert nor do I claim to be, but I enjoy this time of year as the team preps for the draft and I like to participate. Below is my 1st of 2 mock drafts for the Jets. This one is ~1 month before the draft and the next will be ~1 week before. Prospect info/ratings from draftscout.com.

    Round 7, Pick #235:
Zaire Franklin, DS #30 OLB, Syracuse
    College: Syracuse Number: 4
    Position: OLB Pos2: ILB
    Class/Draft Year: Sr/2018
    Projected Round: 7-FA
    Rated number 30 out of 179 OLB's 342 / 2295 TOTAL

    Pro Day Results

    Dates: 03/19/18
    Height: 6001 Weight: 239
    40 Yrd Dash: 4.62 20 Yrd Dash: 2.65 10 Yrd Dash: 1.55 225 Lb. Bench Reps: 30
Vertical Jump: 38" Broad Jump: 10'02"
    20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.22 3-Cone Drill: 6.97
At his size he will move to ILB in the NFL. I'm partial to the Cuse, but I think he will be great ST player with a chance to push for ILB minutes in the future. The kid has endured a very difficult life and is mature beyond the level of most kids his age. He was a 3 time captain at Cuse.

    Round 6, Pick #179:
Grant Haley, DS #22 CB, Penn State
    College
    : Penn State Number: 15
    Position: CB Pos2:
    Class/Draft Year: Sr/2018
    Projected Round: 5-6 Stock: [IMG]
    Rated number 22 out of 209 CB's 182 / 2295 TOTAL

    Combine Results:
    Height: 5092 Weight: 190
    40 Yrd Dash: 4.44 20 Yrd Dash: 2.59 10 Yrd Dash: 1.55 225 Lb. Bench Reps: 15
    Vertical Jump: 34 Broad Jump: 09'11" 20 Yrd Shuttle: 3.94 3-Cone Drill: 6.51
Meet our future slot corner. He is smallish but very quick and has work to do on fundamentals, but this kid can ball. His ball skills need work and he needs to become a better tackler but this is the 6th round. If his ball skills and tackling were better he would go higher.

    Round 5, Pick #157:
Bradley Bozeman, DS #6 C, Alabama
    College: Alabama Number: 75
    Position: C Pos2: OG
    Class/Draft Year: rSr/2018
    Projected Round: 5-6
    Rated number 6 out of 74 C's 188 / 2295 TOTAL

    Pro Day Results

    Dates: 03/07/18
    Height:
    6047 Weight: 296
    40 Yrd Dash: 5.46 20 Yrd Dash: 3.15 10 Yrd Dash: 1.92 225 Lb. Bench Reps: 27
    Vertical Jump: 24 Broad Jump: 08'01" 20 Yrd Shuttle: 5.17 3-Cone Drill: 8.25

It would be nice to get Daniels, Price or Ragnow earlier but its doubtful without our 2nd round picks. I think Bozeman will become a strong centerpiece (litterally!) of our line for years to come. He doesn't seem to be very nimble but he's strong and has good technique. His Sr Bowl practice and game were pretty well reviewed.

    Round 4, Pick #107:
Josh Sweat, DS #11 OLB, Florida State
    College: Florida State Number: 9
    Position: OLB Pos2: DE
    Class/Draft Year: Jr/2018
    Projected Round: 4
    Rated number 11 out of 178 OLB's 135 / 2293 TOTAL

    Vertical Jump: 39 1/2 Broad Jump: 10'04" 20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.28 3-Cone Drill: N/A

He had a gruesome knee injury his Sr year in High School and a torn meniscus in the same knee his Soph year at FSU. He passed his medicals and ran without a brace at the combine and pro day. He has the tools for Kevin Green to work with to develop some pass rush.

    Round 3, Pick #72:
Rashaad Penny, DS #7 RB, San Diego State
College: San Diego State Number: 20
    Position: RB Pos2: KR
    Class/Draft Year: Sr/2018
    Projected Round: 2-3

Ladies and gentlemen, I present our new RB and KR for the next 5+ years. In the past few years I really liked what I saw from Sr Bowl performers David Johnson and Kareem Hunt. This year the best RB at the Sr Bowl was Penny. He struggled in pass protection but excels in everything else. With Powell, Crowell and Maguire we have the ability to ease him in.

    Round 3, Pick #72:

Josh Rosen, DS #2 QB, UCLA
    College: UCLA Number: 3
    Position: QB
    Class/Draft Year: Jr/2018
    Projected Round: 1
    Rated number 2 out of 111 QB's 5 / 2293 TOTAL

I can see the Giants taking Rosen but if not we have to take him unless Darnold is there. I hear people complain that he's too outspoken, he's had concussions, he's too smart for his own good, he alienates people, blah, blah, blah. Go big or go home. He's the best pocket passer in the draft with the highest floor and a ceiling as high as any other prospect.

    SUMMARY:
    1. QB Josh Rosen
    3. RB Rashaad Penny
    4. OLB Josh Sweat
    5. C Bradley Bozeman
    6. CB Grant Haley
    7. ILB Zaire Franklin

Doens't really address our needs much. We don't need a CB, RB or ILB this draft, but we do need D-line and TE. we also need to take more then 1 o-lineman. Not really a fan of this one outside the 1st and 5th round picks

Like the Bradley Bozeman pick in Rd 5 - 2nd Team All American C and he has played other positions along the line too. Would be at least a sound back-up for several positions on the O/line.

    Nice work!

I Agree we need to see an OLB within the first 5 rounds. Sweat may turn out very good. Bozeman I like but think he will be there in the 6th maybe 7th! I like Haley but his size is a bit worrisome if he was to become the full time slot man at some point, I could see him at the # 4 or 5 CB for us if he pans out.
I’m not with spending our 2nd pickon an RB unless Powell is out, but if we did Penny would be a fine addition.
