since he has been our owner, we have had, 7 winning seasons, 5 playoff app's, 1 div. title, and 1 afccg. woody also has been BLASTED a million times on tgg, for being cheap, moronic, e.c.t. and i, for years have defended woody, cheap? the guy did everything in his power to get us the west side stadium, and we all know what happened there, so what did he do? he went to the next best option, folks, this new stadium is no joke. our salary cap is always at the max, so how can he be cheap there? he also got blasted for not interviewing gruden, when he knew that after his interview w/rex, that rex was his guy. woody also, demoted bradway, and made our salary cap guru, tanenbaum, the g.m.
All I have to say about this post is our dear Woody is 0-10 in bringing a VLT to us & since in FB that is ALL that matters that makes his ownership a total failure at least up to now
The "cheap" argument is weak considering the money he has dished out the last 3 seasons. Now, Tee will instantly say he's spending money so he can have a competitive team on the field and sell PSLs. I agree that the PSLs are shitty, I wanted the Jets to be in Manhattan, no dice... But 4 playoff wins in 7 years? Sure we want to WIN the big one, but he sure hasn't been a "tight-wad"
wow, you sure seem chipper. how do i get to have such a rosey view of the world, a la you? like, i get it, you're a disgruntled fan. and i'm sure you've seen this type of hype a couple of times in your time as a jets fan.... but, and i'm actually being sincere here, do you not se any positive of this current team?
He paid alot of money early on too, we weren't getting big named FAs but he spent to retain guys like mawae, Curtis, Chrebet, etc..., he built a new multi million dollar locker room at the meadowlands, he built a new state of the art training facility, he attempted to lure BP back to coach by offering him the largest contract for a HC. Woody has been great(ther than fleecing fans w/ PSLs). We are in the midst of the greatest era in jets history, it's hard to complain.
as a man I guess Woody rubs some the wrong way, but he clearly wants this team to win. Even if his motivation is profits, he's smart enough to know that winning produces profits, and has been trying to maximize it. I'm just glad he's no Jerry Jones/ Snyder who thinks they know everything about players and about being a backseat driver for the GM.
You are a JOKE. Let me ask you, what would you suggest be done different during his time? He fired a coach after a collapse, hired Rex, promoted Tannenbaum, spent money, etc. If I may ask, did you pay the PSLs and get season tickets for '10? I know a lot of friends who have had to give up their seats due to the premiums, wondering if the PSLs have messed you up as well. Totally forgot about the training facility. I'm happy he was patient in waiting for Rex and interviewed Spagnuolo twice to see if he could wow him. He reached out to Cowher as well. He lets Mike T manage, and Rex coach...What more do you want from an Owner? Spend. Which he does plenty of.
Simply Splendid! I have a T'shirt with your sig in, and it never fails to make me smile, great for cleaning my teeth.
i'm not trying to egg you on here, i'm actually trying to understand this mentality. you're clearly focused solely on the vince lombardi trophy being the end all be all of what a successful season makes. Or at hte very least, that's how you come off to a noob like me. so in your opinion was this season for hte jets successful?
0-10...right. Absolutely. Exactly how many teams have won the VLT in that span? A quick guess would be 5 or 6. When he took over this team, he was handed a team that went to TWO AFCG after the SB III. Anyways, point is, VLT is the ultimate goal, but not the only goal. Most teams would love the opportunity to just reach the playoffs and wouldn't mind a one and done situation. I would say the Jets have been a top 10 team overall in the time span Woody has had this team.
Where the F are the World Championships for; Steve Bisciotti Arthur Blank Bill Bidwell Dan Snyder Ralph Wilson Mike Brown Randy Lerner William Ford Jerry Richardson Wayne Weaver Tom Benson Jeffrey Lurie Alex Spanos John York Bud Adams Paul Allen Bob McNair Where the F are their World Championships?! You complain so damn much, guess what Champ! It isn't exactly easy to win a Super Bowl!
The earlier trap had been set in another thread and Italian Seafood almost went for it, but thought better. Now the ultimate venus fly trap has been set in this thread and theBidet has taken the bait hook, line and sinker. I'm afraid it's going to be a very long day for him.
Good work there Ecko. If teams are based purely on success by SB wins, then there are alot of bad teams in the NFL. Fact is, as has been pointed out, we've been to the POs more often than not and despite some catastrophic decisions, we still continue to be a force in the NFL.
Your argument is total bulls**t Being a good owner isn't measured on how many SB you've won because there are too many factors involved in that. Being a good owner means making your team a consistent play-off presence and possible SB contender. I think with this Rex era we are destined to do that and in the past we have been to the playoffs a couple of times with woody already. You can say all you want to criticize him but not use the "he hasn't won a SB" excuse... that's like living in a world where everything is white or black and no intermediate colors... for example... when the Bills went 4 straight times to the SB without winning it was the owner the one to blame because he failed miserably or where there external circumstances?
