In a crucial third down situation late in the second half the jets entrusted brad smith, whom i'd like to note is a rookie, with a semi trick rushing play. I know we only gained a couple of yards and although we got the first down the playcall was without a doubt more than a tad bit aggressive considering the circumstances. While the defense may have toned down on the risk taking as the game went on, the offense surprised me by keeping its foot on the pedal for the entire game.
I remember the feeling after watching the titans tie up the game and couldnt help but remember all the times the jets had blown leads in games due to poor playcalliing and a conservative approach. To be honest with you i fully expected us to hand off the ball a couple of times to try and settle the crowd but thankfully the coaching staff had other things in mind as they opted to go with the deep ball to coles.

Is there any doubt in your minds that herm and his buddies would have called for a couple of runs up the gut after the tie game resulting in a quick three and out and eventually to us losing the game? Shottenheimer apparently witheld alot during the preseason causing fans to become frustrated with the apparently soft approach. Obviously it was refreshing to see the new offensive coaches have the confidence in the team to go for the W in that situation rather than settle for mediocrity.....

I would agree with you about Herm on the playcalling if Justin Miller did not run the ball back to the 40+.

Your point is still well taken, and probably true, but I think even Herm may have thrown it once. Fact is, if Brad Smith was short on 3rd and 1 1/2, you guys would have blasted the play.
