Here's a column written by Aaron Shatz, the head of FootballOutisders.com who is also on some ESPN TV show now and I guess is also writing articles on the website on Insider. Unfortunately I do not have ESPN Insider, so I can't access the whole article, but maybe someone who does can? Here's the link and the beginning of the article: http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/stor...show-too-early-define-mark-sanchez-career-nfl
Well it was pretty much a call out to see if any TGG members have insider and can post the whole thing. It's rare one of these guys actually defends Sanchez so it would be nice to read.
FBO doesn't like Sanchez much and hasn't since the start. It's kind of funny though that the Jets tend to be better in their rankings than you'd expect despite that fact. They don't like Flacco a lot either and the Ravens are also one of their darlings. They love Matt Ryan but the Falcons tend to be lower than you'd expect in DVOA. These are just some of the mysteries that DVOA and FBO's methodologies present.
He defends Sanchez by calling him inaccurate( which everyone with a brain knows) and slightly below average. Great shit dude! This does not help your anti-Schotty campaign one bit. oh and hes also saying that Sanchez basically has one more year to show hes any good or the Jets should replace him. I have to ask, what was the OP thinking when he says this guy is "defending" Mark Sanchez? hahaaha
And by the way, the article is well-named. It is indeed the truth about Mark Sanchez- He's inaccurate, below average and running out of time to prove otherwise
Good article. I've been arguing these same points to Sanchez hates every week. He's an average to slightly below avg qb as a whole. Not terrible, not great either. It kills me that some posters on this board (and the media) treat him as a bottom 5 QB.
Well I got it from his twitter, where he said he wrote an article defending Sanchez, saying he's not that bad, and that it was "relatively positive". Maybe that's where I got it.. You see, I very clearly stated I didn't read the whole article and was hoping someone else could provide it. I guess that went over your head. And my anti-Shotty thoughts are not based just on Sanchez.. they're based on Shotty sucking over a course of many years with many different QB's. There is literally nothing positive about the work Shittenheimer has done for us.
It is nothing short of ridiculous that this is the first accurate and balanced article that I have read that was written about Sanchez by a member of the sports media. These are basic facts and those who are either certain that Sanchez will be an elite QB for years to come or certain that he is a pile of garbage are simply not basing their assessments in reality. It is entirely obvious that Sanchez has played net-average in his first 2.5 years. His playoff road wins are extremely impressive and cannot be written off as "riding the coattails" of a good team. His accuracy struggles are extremely concerning. His work ethic, leadership and dedication to his craft cannot be questioned. Sanchez has grown year to year. That much is clear. Personally, I think Sanchez will continue to make strides and be that true franchise QB for the New york Jets. What baffles me is how A) any of this could be controversial and B) how the heck no one in the media has taken this measured perspective clearly supported by the facts.
Well, at least I'm not the only one who sees similarities between Sanchez at this age and Elway in his first three seasons.
That was well written and balanced. Sanchez is average to below average, while showing signs of improvement. If he continues, he might become a top ten QB, enough to win regularly with a strong defense, but if he doesn't develop, he will always be slightly under mediocre. It's just ridiculous that such commonsense reporting is so hard to come by.
