https://nypost.com/2020/12/14/this-silence-should-terrify-jets/ Apathy is finally settling in on Jet Nation. CEO Chris Johnson owns this situation totally and I hope he lets JD fix it without his input.. This song signifies the NY Jet 2020 season..
Three more weeks until we can fully begin the long climb towards relevance. It's exciting. Hopefully the silence continues until this last 3 week mission is complete.
I don't think apathy has set in....I think fans are just hoping for 3 more losses. We get to draft Trevor Lawrence, this thing turns on a dime.
It will be worse if we don't lose out-- If this doesn't end in TL and an elite headcoach, ownership hasn't seen anything yet. There's literally no one on the team you would pay to see....
I've haven't been this invested in the team since 2015; only 3 more losses to go! Adam Gase and Gregg Williams will forever be remembered as the absolute clowns that got us Trevor Lawrence.
If they don't get the #1 pick and take Lawrence, we're in for a much longer period of misery than I think we realize. If you're going to put a fanbase through something like this season, then there has to be a payoff at the other end of it in order to dig yourself out of it. In 1996, it was bringing in Parcells and having him right the ship. Now? There's no Bill Parcells coming, and nobody is going to touch this franchise with a 10 foot pole if we don't have the #1 pick. And, as good as a QB as Fields may turn out to be, nobody is going to be taking this job just to work with him the way they would with Lawrence. Without the #1 pick, this becomes a completely irrelevant franchise. We'll have to settle on a third-rate coach and there will be no hope of digging out of this. Which is why I know they're going to screw this thing up and beat the Patriots. It's the Jets way.
I wrote and deleted about 3 different replies to this thread - this sums up my thoughts better than I was able to. If we get Lawrence this season will have been a huge success. All of the nail biters, all of the games where we miraculously snatched defeat from the jaws of victory - all of it will have been worth it. If not, all this season does is add yet another chapter to the book of Jets embarrassments. I have a haunting feeling we're going to beat the Patriots in week 17. It's just too Jetsy not to happen. Try to imagine the worst possible thing that could happen to the Jets - going 0-15 only to have it be all for naught in the final game vs. the evil genius Belichick and our arch nemesis the Patriots. We are the type of franchise that this exact sort of thing happens to. There'll be a great 30 for 30 done on this in 15 years after Lawrence leads the Jags to another Super Bowl win and we draft our 2nd QB since Fields. It's too horrific for it not to happen. I, for one, am prepping myself mentally in advance. We are not going to get Lawrence. We are going to beat the Patriots in week 17. It's just too damn Jetsy not to happen.
The way we are not getting Lawrence will be by going 0-16, having the first pick of the draft and he elects to stay at Clemson. That would truly be Same Old Jets.
I kind of feel the same I am not sold on Fields....and to be fair, it’s not from actually watching him play....it’s from the fact that Ohio State doesn’t produce NFL QBs, Haskins has been a bust, and every highlight I’ve seen on Fields shows him with absolutely no pressure throwing to wide open receivers...literally minutes to throw to guys with no defenders in the picture. Does not give me any indication of NFL readiness at all. I’ll be watching the college playoffs to check him out for sure, but we NEED TL in the worst way.
Yeah I'm just tired of us getting "a" top QB prospect instead of "the" top QB prospect. And Lawrence is more than just the best guy in this class, he's the best guy from most of the classes this past decade.
You don't pick or not pick a QB based on where they're at. Fields is also by far the best QB prospect Ohio State has produced. None of the ones before him were on that level. Also, not that this matters, but Fields was originally a Georgia recruit before being transferred to Ohio State.
