I can think of about 20 worse plays the jets ran this season; but given the magnitude of the moment quite possibly yes

That scrub Marshawn Lynch is arguably the worst goal line running back in the league. They had no choice they had to throw it.

2nd and goal from the one foot line with 1:02 on the clock and one time out. 99.9% of educated NFL fans (not NFL coaches, but fans) call either (a) a QB sneak, or (b) a run up the middle with the best power back in the league. 95% of casual NFL fans know instinctively to run the ball. Chicks who watch the Super Bowl solely for the commercials know to run the ball. Instead this idiot runs 35 seconds off the clock, then throws the ball over the middle out of the shotgun. Then he tells the media that he called a pass because the Patriots had their goalline personnel in (no shit) and he didn't (because he's stupid). Well guess what? Whether you have your goalline personnel in, or you have your 4 receiver spread personnel in, your center and guards and tailback are all going to be the same. Just run the ball up the middle. This playcall is the reason why I laugh at NFL personnel (coaches, players, former players) and sports media who claim fans can't criticize players and coaches because they never played the game and don't understand it. Oh yeah? Well I also didn't make the dumbest fucking playcall in the history of American sports, either.

I don't even think pass is that crazy if you do a rollout or corner fade to Matthews (given the game he had). Not optimal given that you have Lynch, but I can buy it. Inside slant is the highest risk passing play down there because the field is shrunk and there is so much activity in that area of the field. Add in that they go to Lockette who may be the worst of a suspect WR group. If that is Calvin Johnson or Brandon Marshall you maybe call that because they will muscle to the ball. Adding all the factors together, this was just lunacy. Just lunacy.
