Do we get any players (current or FA's) to sign with us this year for less than they'd get elsewhere because of the Rex factor?
i can see the jets being attractive to older players who have already scored their big payday and are just looking for a contender and a solid locker room. unfortunately, this probably means guys who don't have much left in the tank like jason taylor and trevor pryce or idiots like to and chad johnson. i find it hard to believe that younger free agents would take a hit on their contract just to come play for the jets no matter how much we want to believe it. not to say that it can't or won't happen, but i'll believe it when i see it. as far as the guys who were with the team this year, i'd say braylon seems more likely to try harder to stay a jet than santonio. LT would probably take a pay cut if the alternative meant getting cut. i think david harris will look to be paid according to market value since he waited last offseason and to pay him less than scott would be insulting. i think guys like brad smith and cromartie will also look to be paid at market value. cromartie needs all the money he can get his hands on and i think brad smith will probably be overpaid by another team. all of this is just my thinking based on what i've seen/read.
I certainly hope so, I just want football to be played in 2011. How much would that suck if we lost a year of Sanchez and the rest? That would certainly blow.
Veterans maybe but players just now hitting their prime/waiting for their big pay day (Holmes, Cro, Harris, etc) no way.
Cro has mentioned numerous times how much he loves playing for Rex and playing in his system. With the uncertainty of the CBA I could see him signing for a "Jet" discount and to take care of his army.
