Its showing pretty clear the while Ivory has a great running style, the man cant handle a 250 touches season. We really needed him 100% these past two weeks and the offense suffered mightily without him. Yesterday showed that Powel is a great third down back especially when picking up blitzes and working as a change of pace rb. As the number 1 threat on the ground?? He cant get anything done. Stacy is pretty much worthless at this point. Looks like he has bricks in his shoes. Ridley is the great unknown. He could provide a great spark for us week 8 against the jags ( lol) but more importantly the week following against the bills. How do you guys feel going forward with this stable of rb's. Am I being to hard on stacy and its really the o-lines fault for providing no running room, or is the start power just lacking?
Started off good. Then you blamed Powell for his poor performance on the ground. You lost me there. There isn't a single RB in the NFL who could have had a good game behind that o-line. They couldn't block for shit.
I disagree, there were times powell could have (and ivory would have) put his head down and plowed up the middle for 3-4 yards, but powell tried bouncing it outside and got nothing
Once Colon went out I agree with you completely, but their was plenty of instances in the first half that Ivory would have performed better than Powell. I like Powell a lot, he is an awesome rb to have in a committee, but to be "the guy" I just don't believe he has that talent level in him that Ivory and Ridley do.
Not really. Our line really sucks at run blocking. Brick can barely pass block these days, Carpenter can't run block, Mangold is good BUT has Colon/Winters next to him and Giacomini is weak/slow-footed/easily pushed around. Our line has done a decent enough job in pass protect compared to last year, but the run blocking is pathetic. Ever see that stat where Chris Ivory is a league leader in yards after contact? Then you see his yards per carry is pretty standard for an RB. He's getting hit at the LOS on every frickin play, if he wasn't such a beast we'd have zero run game at all. Well, you guys saw it haha. Same thing for Seattle. If Lynch couldn't just plow through defenders they'd be fucked.
The problem is obviously compounded by Fitz' lack of mobility and inability to go deep. Just stack the box and its a game. We really need Geno, even if his turnovers are the same, he can open up the playbook and some holes in the running game.
