Yes, it's what we already knew, and it explains why Woody's ownership has been nothing but two decades of futility. Worst of all, we all know that nothing will change as long as he owns the team.

It confirms the theory that Woody doesn't own the team to make money. He already has enough money. He owns the Jets to be "somebody important," and not just another trust-fund doofus. Meeting with the HC every day confirms that the rush for Woody is thinking he's sitting at the cool kids' table, probably for the first time in his entire life. If he ever sold the team, he'd be banished from the cool kids' table, and no one would give a shit about him.

What we need is for one of the beat writers to find out just how much Woody meddles and write it up. How many of the stupid decisions that we crucify the GMs and HCs for were really Woody's ideas that he forced them to implement? How has tied the hands of the HCs and GMs? How have the HCs and GMs tried to placate him? As we suspect, is Woody the reason why first-rate HC and GM candidates don't want to come here? I'll bet Rodgers has played Woody like a fiddle.

Not surprising that he meddles…we’ve known this…but man there’s a reason why we’ve sucked for so long and that’s because once Parcells left and he had to start making decisions, he’s fucked up pretty much every single one. He’s hired shit GMs and shit HCs. He is the common denominator, so until he has someone else making decisions, we can reasonably expect to keep sucking.

 

You could try rooting for another team. I'm too long in the tooth for that, but anyone into this team for less than 30 years ought to seriously consider that option because they are NEVER going to reward our support. For, I'm just going to leave them at the edge of my periphery and tune it if something changes.

 

I'm trying to not to read too much into it. Daily conversations, I can accept. But conversations about the game plan? Has to be a generalization.

Guys, you are seriously suggesting Woody is the one giving Saleh coaching advice and therefore the coaching has been so bad? Or maybe it's the other way, Woody is the one who improved this defense, since Saleh is defensive coach after all, and Woody gave him all the advice he needed.

Saleh actually said he debriefs him on the day, that's it. Woody is the team owner, and usually owners talk to their key employees almost daily. There is no need to create a conspiracy theory here.

 

Who's creating a conspiracy? There's no way NFL owners talk to their head coaches every day, and certainly not about the game plan. All people are doing is expressing surprise at the thought of it.

But of course, since you don't think it's true, you ridicule it and create conspiracies of your own.

 

Expressing surprise is one thing. But did you read the topic of this thread? It says that it's been verified that Woody meddles on daily basis, not that people expressed surprise. Verified. As far as owners talking to coaches daily during the season, what do you know about that? You heard from owners on that? Coaches? Saleh said he debriefs him, tells him about game plan. That's not a conspiracy, that's what Saleh said. He gave an example how he debriefed him about the game.

But here is what he didn't say. Did he says Woody meddles? Did he say he is telling him how to coach? That Woody is coming up with the game plan? That he overruled him on coaching decisions? Did he say that? Is it now verified? And if not, then it is fair to suggest that it is made up, there is nothing to it, we are reaching a bit here. I am trying to bring up actual facts of what was said and some perspective. There is no need to get upset and call actual facts a conspiracy, that just makes no sense at all. I don't mean any harm. But if you are just surprised, then that's fine by me, no need to get defensive.

I'm not upset nor defensive, I'm just calling you out on your inconsistencies. Like taking the original poster's opinion and making it mine. I never said Woody was meddling, I said I hope he isn't speaking to the coach about the game plan.

Do I have to speak to NFL head coaches to have an opinion about whether or not it's normal for a billionaire sports owner to speak to his head coach every day? Does that means you've spoken to them and determined that it IS normal? Also, unless Robert Saleh specifically says the words "Woody is meddling", one can't infer that he is based on content?

 

The conspiracy part, and I say that light heartedly, was that the meddling was verified, I thought I made that clear, that's the title of the thread. You can definitely have an opinion, and infer whatever you want, it's just not what was said, and therefore by definition is not verified. But it's fine, I know Woody rubs people the wrong way, all is good. Trust me if he does not fire JD and Saleh I will be all over his ass as well asking to meddle more
